Games that were ruined for you?

I lent my friend my copy of Infamous, and he went on about how great it was, and that he completed in a weekend, but because of my alpha batch PS3, I took 3 weeks to finish it because of all the freezing issues. And it totally sucked the fun out of it. Also jackasses on online games, who are too good for any actual real life to be had, they ruin my fun too.

What games were ruined thanks to something other than the games being rubbish for you?

WoW: it revolved around this one thought of "how the fuck is everyone leveling up faster than me! rabble! rabble rabble!"

And that was why God games developers invented the mute function. I love it. I love it so.

COD 4, I never went on it after CoD 5 came out. Come to think of it, I never went on CoD 5 either.

Mute is proof that God Game devs love us and want us to be happy. Or at least, those of us that aren't "a 12 year old kid who thinks he is tough shit."

Portal, I didn't like it, my friend were all like "Portal is the shits man!" so I got it, yeah the puzzles were fun, but most of it was ruined for me. Oh and the cake is a cake.

I agree, and it's what I do but it's a shame.

On the original Xbox most people chatted, and most of them were friendly, I rarely had to bother doing it.

Now I just have my chat for friends only or just keep myself in a party of 1 if my friends are offline.

Almost all of portal was ruined for me by 2 things.
First was that I got it maybe a week later since I had no idea about ToB before I saw it in stores and decided to get it. So when I went on the forums before playing portal EVERYONE had "the cake is a lie" or something similar in their signatures. I thought nothing of it, of course until I played portal and heard about cake. That's pretty much the biggest motivation for the game gone from the start
Also I was easily frustrated at the time so used walkthroughs for most of the later levels.

I find it hard to enjoy Left 4 Dead for a couple of reasons.

Normal mode is too easy
Advanced and especially Expert is only fun with VOIP, which doesn't come around very often.
None of my friends have it.
It gets boring very quickly.

Pretty much the whole storyline for Batman:AA has been ruined for me now. I'm still waiting on the 18th, for the PC version to be delivered, and some idiot thought it would be clever to post the ending, and other major plot points in a thread on the official forums, complete with screenshots, without any warnings what so ever.

Diablo II.
I really love the game, it is one of my all-time favourites, but I stopped playing over a year ago, because of the evergrowing community of item-dupers, who caused the games to crash constantly (the ones I were in, anyway).
And you couldn't trade safely, unless you set up a meeting in a forum or with players you knew.
Pity...

Heh, any games revolving around a nice story or plot, and then someone you know spoils it out of the blue.... Grrrr!

Also, seeing someone play a game a lot and then playing it later tends to suck out much fun as well. (My friends are poor and come to play my games on PS3 or 360 and I have to sit there and smile...)

Fallout 3.

I made a promise to myself I would do all the quests. I actually got pretty far, but then my X-Box got the Red Rings.

Once it got sent back, I had just lost interest in that one week.=(
