Games that would make good RPG settings

And by RPG I mean table-top, pen-and-paper RPG's.
I was discussing this with a friend some weeks ago, and we think there are many games with the potential to be turned into a really really good RPG setting.

My favourite of the bunch was The Longest Journey and Dreamfall. If anyone cares to know, I'll make a more detailed explanation.

Now that would be incredible.

I think the Dynasty Warriors series has potential for that. Lots of combat, some interesting social dynamics could be explored between characters of that period and I think the setting is pretty open ended as far as setting a quest or goal goes. You could have to assassinate Cao Cao or deliver some flowers to Sun Shangxiang.

Warhammer 40k Dawn of War

Might work if you stick to the really powerful races, otherwise it's infinite imba.

Why not choose a game for MMORPG adaption that's already an RPG? The W40k PnPRPG 'Dark Heresy' would be the ideal setting.

warhammer 40k and regular warhammer are configured to the d20 table top system.

along with WoW, a super hero setting (mutants & masterminds), a modern setting and a some anime settings like for instance Naruto.

holydog is a genius. STALKER would make a cool RPG, and a zombie RPG would be cool, too.
Starcraft would be kind of interesting. And maybe a time-travelling game!
