Both the Force Unleashed games. I thought they were awesome.

Also, a lot of movie games years ago.
Good movie games:

Tron: Evolution
Captain America: Super Soldier
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Watchmen: The End Is Nigh
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Heh I loved every Harry Potter game up to Goblet of Fire. That one sucked.
Spiderman 1,2, and 3 were fun.
And I enjoyed Disney Pixar cars too

Too human was an amazing setting, an amazing story, and some glorious set pieces and character design.

The controls were designed by a lobotmised, inbred cockroach however, which killed the game for me. But I loved the setting.

Can't say for sure if Timeshift gets a lot of hate or just gets ignored, but its a game I really enjoyed. Slowing, stopping and rewinding time as part of gameplay was brilliant, it had some great sequences, some interesting combat. Story was average, but mostly it was a lot of fun.
I played Timeshift as well. I really enjoyed the whole time manipulation thing and thought it was done fairly well. I didn't even know it was somewhat disliked before ages after I finished it. Only thing I didn't like about it was the ending....

Also PS: where is that avatar from?
Yeah, the ending was a bit of a let down.

Avatar is just some stock image from the internet, I've been using her for years on nearly every forum I'm on. Always loved me a red headed vampire chick :D

It was hated? I always heard that it was really good, so I bought it myself. It was a really good game, and I love the black/white transition into colour thing. it was awesome.
well it must have gone wrong somewhere, cos it was the last thing Pandemic ever did, as EA (curse them) dissolved it... i guess that Battlefront 3 will never be as good as it's prequels... if it ever gets made :/

I'll join the chorus of those saying Dragon Age 2 is good. In fact, it's better than Origins.

I don't know if Prototype and Lord of the Rings: War in the North are hated, exactly, but I recall them getting bad press that doesn't seem at all deserved.

Similarly, I think people cry over Fallout 3 and New Vegas too much. Those games are fantastic and aside from the technical problems they had (especially NV on PS3, seriously, that and Skyrim on PS3 were valid examples of fully justified complaint against Bethesda) the games themselves are fun, engaging, and create world worth exploring. I'll put Mass Effect in this category, too, but even as a long-standing apologist for the series, I think that ending was not well done, especially given how Bioware had talked about the series as a trilogy from the start. That surely cannot be the best you can do, Bioware. Ending aside, those games are worth the investment of multiple play-throughs.

I'll also say Final Fantasy 12 is good.

Bulletstorm :/ I love it but I can see why so many people didn't, the main meat of the game was really chasing the top scores on the Echoes as that was really the only game mode that required you to get to grips with the kill system. I strangely treated each Echo as a puzzle which is far more apt than just a straight shooter and as such I got huge amounts of playtime out of it by analysing each stage and trying to slot all the skillshots together in a lovely display of violence and mayhem.
Agreed, I thought Bulletstorm was awesome. It was the first (and really so far only) game I've played that manages to add a level of actual strategy to the excessive-carnage end of the shooter spectrum. I think the reason nobody liked it was mainly the lack of competitive multiplayer, but the thing is, with the godlike mechanics the way they are, to balance multiplayer you'd have to disable the thumper, probably put the leashes on a very limited timer, and take out about half the guns while limiting the other half. The weaponry is just to overpowered to make competitive multiplayer work, so I totally understand why they didn't bother. That said, this combinded with the fact that almost nobody plays single player shooters (not to be confused with single player RPGs that use gun combat, I mean more or less a bunch of moving targets and a dude with a gun, period) means it never really had a market.

But the world was beautiful, the combat was beautiful, it was the greatest spectacle in gaming I've seen in years. It's not the shooter you play every day, but when you come home after being screwed out of Saturday overtime yet again, Bulletstorm was freaking AWESOME.

Mirror's Edge, absolutely adore that game. One of the only campaigns I've replayed.
Enjoying playing Call of Duty now, despite my previous allegiance to Halo. Halo lost my trust with Reach, and now
I shall eat Cod.
Also my favourite Elder Scrolls game is Oblivion. Yeah, you heard me.

On the counter, Mass Effect 1 is the dullest Xbox game I own. Got bought as a gift, just can't play through it at all. Utter tedium.

I have just never been able to confirm if Duke Nukem Forever has a content filter or not. Can anyone here tell me if it does or not?
Having played, 3/4 of the way through it, I can confirm there is no content filter. Fully voiced swearing and animated breasts for all

Let me put this helmet on, and... Kane and Lynch: Dog Days.

No, seriously. It was incredibly atmospheric (yes, I actually liked the youtube stylistics), Condemned-style brutal and dark, the soundtrack fit in greatly, the voice acting was surprisingly good, the story was silly but well-executed, and the whole "taking cover didn't make me invincible!" complaint is just a result of the pussification of games that has been going on for about 8 years now. Yes, it was short and the ending resolved jack shit, but I've always had the feeling it was planned as more of a bridge between K&L and K&L 2 than an actual sequel. Too bad it flopped and we're probably never going to see the real sequel, but oh well.

Also Driv3r. This one is a lot harder to defend because of the inane difficulty curve and bullshit gameplay, but come on, the story was pretty damn good in a cheesy cop show way, and the cutscenes were among the best ones I've seen in gaming (at least for the game's time). Granted, Driver: San Francisco was all that and better.

Also, Resident Evil 5. While it's true that it wasn't scary at all, I found it extremely fun to play anyway, making it worth using up a Christmas gift to get it.

Final Fantasy X
Easily the best in the franchise for me.
Yet, because of one scene (you know the one), which was purposely corny and embarrassing, people avoid it like the plague.
That game is terrible for a lot more reasons than that one scene (which doesn't even work taken on it's own terms.)

Dragon Age 2. It's been said before why. I don't want to Skyrim; overwhelming and neverending. I want something substantial and...finite.

Final Fantasy VIII. I don't know why most people dislike it. Was the customization confusing? Yes, but which FF isn't? Did it revolve around pseudo dramatic characters? Yes, but which FF isn't? Was it different from the originals? yes, but...well, that's not a bad thing!
I don't know. That's just my favorite FF. While we're at it...

FFX-2/XIII: FFX-2 was pretty good. it had a more upbeat story...with a couple of songs! Did it have its girly moments? Well, yeah. The game revolves around three girls. They're bound to do girly stuff. But it was pretty good, actually. I've heard most people complain about the "girly" style, but whatever.
And FFXIII, while I heard people in Japan are dancing on the streets when it comes to this game, here in the US people seem to hate it with a burning passion. I think it's okay. I mean, it's not awesome, but it's not that bad either.

Brink. One of the few games that has made me rage-quit. But...once I stopped playing offline and with those dumb AI partners and I got into the online world, I realized it was quite fun. But I can understand why people hate it; it's hard to get past that horrible AI. It took me a second purchase of the game to realize it.

Let's see.....

FFXI
FFXII
FFXIII
FFXIII-2
Battlefield 3
CoD in general, liked MW1,2, and somewhat 3 (hated BlOps)
Dead Space 1 and 2
A few of the Star Ocean games.

Although about the premise of the thread... It's almost infinitely easier to find a naysayer on something than it is to find a fan, especially on the internet. I'm pretty sure there are dozens of escapist members who hate all of the above, while their overall reception is pretty positive. So that may disqualify my choices based on what constitutes "many" people hating, if the majority still enjoyed.

I love Duke Nukem Forever. While playing it i was in total nostalgia mode. was pretty awesome. Absolutely loved the Army of two games. even with the a.i. cause I tend to modify my play style on the fly based on who or what(in the case of the ai) Im playing with. Loved mirrors edge.
Also loved Halo ODST. Just somethin bout playing a regular guy in that world.

There is another game that i dont know if it got any hate at all but i know its kind of an unknown and thats the game Breakdown for xbox. Absolutely most Immersive fps Ive ever played. ever. Period. You do everything from first person. Gotta shimmy across a ledge by only your hands? First person. Gotta deliver a one two punch followed by a kick to the face? First person. Wanna drink a soda to get health back? You pop the top and tilt it back in first person. Need ammo for a gun you have? You pick up each clip by hand and even pull a clip from a gun. Instead of just running over top of it like every other fps. Freakin awesome.

Funny how most of the games listed here aren't games that anyone really hates as such, but just think are overrated.

So I'll go out and put in an obscure one: Gun Valkyrie.

Panned worldwide for it's hard to comprehend controls, uber-hard gameplay, and rather unfair moments, I initially also ranted at the screen about the numerous problems.

But after getting to grips with the controls, and learning how to defeat the bosses/ enemies, replaying it is actually really fun (albeit short).

I also love the Sega Saturn. Back in the day, everyone hated the Saturn. I think even Sega did, which is why they almost unbelievably f'ed up in every conceivable way. I was a Sega fanboy and I took all the hate in my stride.

Manhunt. Everybody seems to hate this game because of its violence level and realistic killing portrayals, but everybody seem to forget that it's also a really good stealth game with a sense of dread and atmosphere so dense you could slice them with a knife.
