Biggest game that managed to sink below my expectation was Halo 4, but I was never hyped for it, just curious to see how bad it was.

Didn't meet expectations: Grand Theft Auto V.
The gameplay looked entertaining. The world looked gorgeous. The story looked interesting, as did the character swapping actions.
What I got was limp gameplay rising to the stunning levels of barely passable (except the shit shooting). A gorgeous world that had missions forcing you to drive across it something like fifty times, it's still a nice looking world but by God was the game padded for the sake of showing it off. The characters are all just bastards who I couldn't give a single care for. It's an OK game, but certainly not one I enjoyed, which is why I was so let down by it.

Satisfied: Halo: Reach
In 2010 I was still very much in my Halo fanboy mode, probably the peak of my love for the franchise. That Halo: Reach was a nice send off to the series was enough, and the little details like the achievements all being quotations from the series made my inner fan swell. Even at the time I thought it just an OK game, and I think that now. I must say, though, that Halo: Reach has easily the best ending of any game in the series. Halo: Reach is a solid game, just not one that excels like CE, 2 and ODST did before it.

Above and BEYOND: Call of Duty: Black Ops II

I'm still kinda left in amazement by how thoroughly Black Ops II blew me away. It's not exactly this grand masterpiece, though, full disclosure. I was hyped from the trailers and all the little details about changing formula and making things fresh when MW3 had started stagnating the series. When I got to - I was even happier than I could have imagined. I adore the campaign, haven played it several times making new choices or just plain replaying for the sake of the great missions. I love the Zombies because it felt so new. I loved the multiplayer, and it's the best I've ever been at any of the Call of Duty games (I'm usually shit at them).

Black Ops II continues to amaze me. It's DLC was fantastic (except for the Buried Zombies map which was crap), and it's had the most longevity out of any of the titles for me, keeping me playing through the Ghosts and Advanced Warfare's times. I mean, Advanced Warfare is a good game, but neither it's multiplayer nor it's campaign gripped me like Black Ops II did and still does to this day. I even bought the Wii U version to be my first Wii U shooter because I know I love the game enough to not blame it if the control's buggered up (which they didn't, usually).

I feel like I should be the resident Black Ops II fanboy here, if only I had more opportunities to talk about it. It had perfect timing of coming out immediately after my soul was incinerated by Halo 4 and the pretty crappy MW3 the year before, and it came out just before the abhorrent Ghosts and the flawed Advanced Warfare.

What I'm hyped for now

Right now, I'm hyped for Gears 4. I think all four of the previous games are great, even Gears of War 3 with it's terrible, terrible Act Five and terrible ending. From what it seems, Gears 4 is going back to Gears of War 1's horror atmosphere in a shooter game which is a big reason for why I love the first game the most.

Even if the next trailer showed an action romp like Gears 2 through Judgment I won't mind, I just won't be able to love it as much as I do the first game.

Disappointing/Bad: Kingdom Hearts: Re:coded
Met My Expectation(s): Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance
Went Above and Beyond: Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
Hype to the Future: Kingdom Hearts 3

Other than that, the Star Fox Zero [Suit] hype and the Persona 5 hype are taking up my non-Kingdom Hearts-related hype spots...
