SO this morning I made a thread about games we all loved in a instant.
in it, I listed Earthbound, Which I had spent My first 15 minutes of gametime on it mere moments beforehand.

now my gametime is upwards of an Hour. I had other games... ANYWAY. I am now convinced that EarthBound is the most beautiful game ever. my criticism of it was "its TOO silly. I mean, I LIKE silly, but...."

then I realized: its a kids game. its cute and adorable. and every aspect is symbolic to childhood. the lady at the burger joint going "Smile, smile"? thats EXACTLY how it would look to a kid. she's pointlessly smiling at you as if she was your best friend. the extra-stereotyped characters? kids will send you into a stereotype box near immediately. Ness Himself? he is a cross between all the male characters of "ed edd & eddy" pretty much, and I'm sure it draws from the cartoons of Earthbounds era.

and then I FULLY understood what the game I was going to be playing for at least a week, If not several months, was about:Childhood, Dreams, and, for those past the "kiddie" stage of their lives, Nostalgia.

and it's quite clear the devs knew this. and I love them for it.
