I'm looking for some games (PC) set in the modern day (not war, more urbany) with realisticy weapons (i.e: beretta pistols, yadi yada) and either third of first person.

I know it seems like a pretty strict requirement, but thats what I'm aiming for ;)

Anybody know of any? Ones excluded from the list are

Rainbow Six games
Counterstrike
Second Sight
Fallout 3
GTA series.

-Cheers

MAYBE The Suffering, but that's a horror game that takes place in a haunted prison, so it's not the most realistic game out there. Still it's scary as hell, and it's free.

Well, Killing Floor has realistic weapons, but I'm not sure if you want a modern day realistic setting, or a modern day crazy setting.

Black, it's set in a modern war zone and, at the time, the weapons were very realistic.

Not sure if they do it for PC, though.

SWAT. I missed the boat with SWAT 4 (got it too late to really enjoy it the way it deserved), but back in the days of SWAT 3 it was one of my favourites. It was in essence Rainbow Six, only superior in virtually every respect I can think of. Certainly ahead of it's time in terms of gameplay mechanics.

Strange that you have put Fallout 3 there, it doesn't fit the description at all and you've knocked off any suggestions i would have made, the only other one i can think of is Ghost Recon, but that's still a war game.

Tried SOCOM? Like SOCOM: Confrontation for PS3 (multiplayer only).

Though FEAR for PC is probably the best recommendation I can give, only a bit of sci-fi and you didn't seem that keen on super-realism.

Oh yeah, and Left 4 Dead 1 & 2.

No PC but still, I second that.

It's an absolute classic in my opinion but it is a bit pulpy at times though in the best possible way. It sure ain't a sim-shooter like Operation Flashpoint though it was one of the last console shooters where you get an actual health bar rather than bullshit rebounding health/shield.

Also, no iron-sights for most weapons, just reticule zoom. Still an amazing game.

F.E.A.R
... fun gun play, and a nice selection of weaponry.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R
... post apocalyptic (without the apocalypse) with a nice, gritty flair. Solid shooter.

Splinter Cell: Conviction
... I wish I didn't have to put it there. But it it more of a shooter nowadays. Though I suppose not what you are looking for, as you'll not be shooting in the shooter sort of sense. If that makes any sense. It doesn't. I know. But still. Nevermind. Just ignore me.

Max Payne 1+2, maybe? Also Dead To Rights 1
Love me some Max Payne. I might play that. Never heard of Dead To Rights 1. Where can I get that these days? I just google imaged it and it looks like it could be fun.

You could always try Operation Flashpoint, if you want really ugly realism. I'm sure there'll be mod that'll put a little more life into the game though.

Eh feck I forgot about the no war criteria.

Yeah but I figured just in case someone for some reason thought that, it was going to save them the hastle of posting it :p

After all, some people did put some pretty strange games down :p

SWAT for sure, maybe the Hitman series, because you don't have to be sneaky, although it is more fun that way.

I will also say SWAT 4. It's an amazing game, and it's got a fair amount of replay value with the built in mission generator.

You should check out the STALKER series. Not entirely urbane but some areas are. Lots of weapons and good shooter combat. I've only been playing the 3rd one, Call of Pripyat. Love it so far.

Battlefield 2.

Fair number of modern and a couple of golden oldey guns (G3 and AK 47), plus tanks and planes and boats and jeeps all kicking around for you to test those guns on.

It's also immensely satisfying to walk up behind someone and blast them with the M11-87, just tyhe satisfying 'ka-chik' of the action. Plenty of urban maps too.

Also, look at the STALKER games, customisable guns hoorah!

Yeah I like Battlefield 2. Still, not looking for a war game at the moment :p Just a more urban shooter. Like Max Payne.
