Coming from the mute or chatty-topic, this came to my mind: Have there ever been video games that featured you playing an overweight character (basically a fat guy) - and not just a little bigger than average belly, but FAT - that is NOT a comedic kind of game? A game with a serious, epic story, and you´re an large/obese character.

Has that ever been covered?

You can make your character fat in San Andreas for comedic effect. Does that count?

The only two that come to mind are Uncharted 2 (Donut Drake,) and San Andreas.

Seems like the only ones I can think of are the ones where being fat is optional-- in addition to the ones already mentioned, the main character in Fable II can be fat if you give him/her enough "bad" food.

No. Most people don't like fat characters and prefer their protagonists to be slim.

Well - Trine has Pontius the Brave, and the guy has it all. Muscles and fat.

I also thought about creating a "beer-bellied soldier with a machinegun" type of character, and star him in game... or maybe comic... or whereever.

No, and as a fat person, I am offended.

Well, Saint's Row let you be fat, and didn't penalize you for it with decreased stamina (San Andreas) or increased ugliness (Fable 2).

Not that I know of, other than like, GTA San Andreas. Skate also let you tip the slider up pretty far on the heavy side, I think. I can't think of any game where the main character was supposed to be heavy though. I mean, it was REALLY hard to stay fat in San Andreas. You had to work at it, cause there was a lot of activity to make up for with food.

Truth be told, I don't think a serious game where you had to be fat would market itself very well, and that's pretty much it. I mean, who wants to play an unfit character when it's so easy to be unfit in real life? It's an inhibitive condition and video games tend to be all about doing what you can't do in real life. I mean, making obesity out like it's nothing in a video game could be fun, but it doesn't really reflect reality, and it wouldn't fit well in a serious game.

I mean, it's the same thing for being really weak. Not many games have you playing really weak characters either.

According to the powers that be, fat people don't seem to go on adventures! (BAH! )

Fat people, (like myself) only usually get supporting roles at best.
That being said it was nice to play as Ekei Ankokuji on Onimusha 2.
He was a bit of a joke character, but had quite a serious side to him that made him very likeable.

Did everyone forget about Mario? I always found it pretty hilarious that Nintendo is selling pro-health games by the buttload while their iconic game character is a chubby little plumber that can do anything!

Although on the other hand, it's hard for me to think of any other character in the gaming world that was the main protagonist that was on the fat side...

in gears of war they weren't fat but they definitely took up half the screen

also the black whirlwind in jade empire, or the jack black character in brutal legends

If you picked the right perks and stats for it... your main character in Fallout 3 could get pretty big...

being fat is very unhealty,
so it's not like, playing a women with no boobs,
or a man without muscles,

it's like being cripled. sorry if i offended anyone...
