I think the components you are describing are what we call a 'setting'.FonyDigital said:WoW has a story, sure it isn't a individual characters story but lore, land, history, races and all that crap nobody gives two craps about.

Kinda. It all means nothing if you don't press square in the 30 seconds you have to run around in the farplane in chapter 3. There are no hints as to what you have to do, no retries (short of reloading it or replaying the entire game), and only incredibly impersonal references. The only direct references are in the opening (forgettable after reloading Sphere Break for the hundreth shitting time), the scene after the first mission (forgettable for same and because you can skip it), and a missable scene in chapter 2. Further, if you don't do that chapter 3 thing, they never really mention him again. I'm more inclined to call it an unlockable scene.Daedalus1942 said:Final Fantasy x-2 did have a story, but in order to understand the whole thing you had to give it multiple playthroughs, to get 100% and unlock the story portion pertaining to Tidus.
It still had that underlying main story about Shuyin and that dancer chick, and the massive weapon (which i've forgotten the name of) about to blow up all of Spira.dstryfe said:Kinda. Since I've posted here again, Road Rash 3 has no story. At all. Just races and setting (and characters that really don't matter).
Underlying main story? Isn't that a little contradictory?Daedalus1942 said:It still had that underlying main story about Shuyin and that dancer chick, and the massive weapon (which i've forgotten the name of) about to blow up all of Spira.
Either this is trolling, or your retarded.Career Gamer said:System Shock, System Shock 2, Bioshock, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, GTA4, Prototype, Halo 3, Hitman: Blood Money, and Call of Duty 4 have no story WHATSOEVER.
It just took a different approach, Shadow of the Colossus required you to put together the story as you saw it, brilliant in it's own way.Trendkill6 said:I thought Shadow of the Colossus was lacking in story.
Seconded! Although I didn't think Prototype's story was that great.BolognaBaloney said:Either this is trolling, or your retarded.Career Gamer said:System Shock, System Shock 2, Bioshock, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, GTA4, Prototype, Halo 3, Hitman: Blood Money, and Call of Duty 4 have no story WHATSOEVER.
Agreed, it was riddled with cliche and plot-holes, but nevertheless, it had a story, I mean for god's sake, it had an entire game option to pursue the story further by brain-eating. This guy is just a blatant troll.Daedalus1942 said:Seconded! Definitely. He's clearly never played any of these games, or maybe he just skipped all the cutscenes because he's one of those foam at the mouth and lapse into a coma if he doesnt kill something for 3 seconds gamers so he missed it all, because thats just ridiculous.BolognaBaloney said:Agreed, it was riddled with cliche and plot-holes, but nevertheless, it had a story, I mean for god's sake, it had an entire game option to pursue the story further by brain-eating.
