Basically, I want a shot list of some games that you all own, and wheter or not you think it is worth however much you paid for it. If you didn't pay for it, was it worth whatever your parents paid for it?
Here's my list:
The Orange Box: I would seriously have paid $150 for these games, as it is I got it for $20
Gears of war: I didn't think the original was quite worth buying
Gears 2: huge improvement on the first, definetly worth buying
Halo 3: I wouldn't pay $10 for the campaign, but the Online Multiplayer was priceless
Bioshock: Well, my standard for games are ones that either entertain me or enlighten me, and Bioshock really didn't do either, Sure, it was intelligent, mysterious, immersive, and looks great, but in hindsight I wouldn't have bought it.
Mirror's Edge: I'm an athletic type, so I really appeciated the often phisically impossible things you could do in this game. Even though sometimes the poor level design made it obnoxiously difficult, for me it was just barely worth buying.
Call of Duty 4: I made a solemn vow once: never buy a WWII shooter, so when call of duty came out, I was taken aback at the degree to which such a stagnant series had created such a gem. Both the single player campaign and the online multiplayer would be totally worth buying by themselves.
Mass Effect: Epic, my personal favorite game of all time. Not as great of a value as the Orange box, but that was five games. I loved how it wrapped my two favorite genres inside a science fiction tortilla.
Fable 2: I loved fable 1, which is one of my favorite games of all time, but Fable 2 seemed like Fable 1's good-looking retarded, bitchy sister. Not worth buying.
What games did you think were worth or not worth buying?
