Civ IV, Far Cry 2, Morrowind, ME2.

All those games took me a second go at them to make me love them

Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. When I first played it a good decade ago I didn't like the battle system at all. It felt too slow and how it was setup was confusing and frustrating. Later on Persona 3 and 4 resparked my interest so I decided to give it another shot. After a few hours of playing I loved the story and characters, and the battle system sort of clicked for me and I was addicted. 56 gameplay hours later I had beaten a fairly tough end boss and now it is in my top 10 RPGs of all time.

Mass Effect 1. I played box art shep as a soldier the first time through, so it felt like every other over-the-shoulder shooter. Next play through I picked up femshep as an infiltrator and spent more time exploring as opposed to just barrelling through the story, and I LOVED it!

Planescape: Torment. First time around, I got lost in the Mortuary (where you beging) for about 3 hours, gave up and uninstalled. Second time, I managed to install the Widescreen Mod (absolutely necessary and makes the game actually look... almost pretty) and got out of the aforementioned Mortuary very quickly (20 minutes, tops), after that, I didn't even play anything else until I finished the game. And that was a looooong time. 35 hours maybe? Worth it.

For me, that would go to Twilight Princess for the Wii. I first tried it when I was younger, and I got stuck, and quickly bored, so I quit. I didn't touch for a couple of years, then I had another go when I was bored. I love it to death now. :D

Biggest example for me would have to be Mass Effect.

First time I played it, I stopped playing after Eden Prime. That's right, the first friggin level. Didn't go back to it until months later.

Now I'm such big fan of the series I've played through each multiple times and am doing a final run to set up for Mass effect 3.

Couple of things. Most recently Just Cause 2. Played it for a bit and was pretty bored with it. Came back a few months later because I was bored, started exploring the island and just screwing around, and my gods, it was awesome.

A lot of RPG's are also kinda 'meh' to me when I make my first character, because that's usually screwing around and figuring out what's what in the game. Then I usually make a second character and love it, or at least like it enough to finish it. This happened to Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Planescape: Torment, the original Fallout and Oblivion.

Deus Ex was also pretty 'meh' the first time I played it. What can I say, in some respects it has aged rather poorly.

Fallout 3 is my favorite game of all time, but actually the first time I started it I was entirely uninterested. I stopped after maybe a week and didn't pick it up again for months, then loved it.

Had that with the first Kingdom Hearts. Could not for the life of me figure out why people loved it so much until I stuck with it and just kept playing.

Mass Effect 2 only grabbed me a couple of hours in, but boy am I glad I persevered!

Divinity 2 dragon knight saga.

1st time playing i just really wanted to get the form, then thinking i was finally going to get it to be bombarded with more inspect every shelf and house and door. (must do as many sidequests as posible too) so i was up to 20 hours+ playtime before i finally got it. by then i just couldn't be bothered.

2nd time i knew when i was gonna get it so i didnt have to be impatient and i enjoyed it immensely.

Aaah KOTOR! I couldn't get into the fighting by turns and found it beyond boring and didn't even left the first ship. I came back to it a few months later and couldn't stop playing it periodically until finishing it! Such an amazing game!

The regular Megaman Series. I played only the X series as a child as they were new at the time, only when I became older did I realize there was a another completely series I never played on the NES. I hated that they had no dash. The sliding sucked. I hated it.

Tried it again sometime later. Love it to death and still do. All of them. ALL.

This one is kinda half-assed,but Super Mario Sun Sunshine. The reason why I say half-assed is because their wasn't really a second time around, I didn't really appreciate the game and realize my true feelings toward it till after I sold it.
