I'm not talking about games that scare you. I mean games that literally make you want to stop playing them because, for whatever reason, they scare you. My example is Warcraft 3. Last time I was into it I got pretty good (in my opinion), but now I'm too afraid to play because I might do bad (the long game times add to this issue). This also happens with DotA, but I actually do suck at DotA.

Halo ODST, I want to play it but at the back of my mind there is a voice telling me I might suck because I'm not the Cheif

Call of Duty.

I worry that I'll smell like sheep and lemming after playing it.

I second that.

OT: I feared xbox live for the first year and a half I had a 360 because I knew that once I got it, the rest of my life would slowly fade away. Then I got live for Christmas and my prediction came true.

I've always quit most Zelda games once I hit the first dungeon because I'm afraid I'll die of boredom. *ba dum pish*

In all seriousness, I used to love Guitar Hero, but I swear my hands began to cramp up much faster than they used to, so I stopped for fear of permanent joint damage.

Funnily enough, playing actual guitar has no such effect on me.

Warcraft, I'm afraid I'll get hooked

and Guitar Hero/Rockband, I'm afraid I'll actually be good at it and, yeah, get hooked

World of Warcraft - because I fear I'll get hooked, and I can't really afford the monthly fees at the moment.

anything on Wii or the Gamecube cause my Wii was moved downstairs into the den when my parents got Wiifit, and I kinda don't wanna be playing a marathon of "Madworld" when my mom is in the next room

Also any game, because I'm starting to becoming addicted and can't stop

Final Fantasy 8. I've already beat it twice, and want to play again, but I can't stand the thought of item and magic grinding all over again for the third time. Plus all the card playing I'll have to do to get the Lionheart. *shivers*

Soul Calibur 4: because I can't stand listening to others cry from the whomping I give 'em in that game.

You know how when you have an addiction you feel worse for the rest of your life, but when you get what you want you feel great?

Perfect Dark (N64): The Solo Missions are awesome and fun, and the Combat Simulator was perfect (pun intended) to play. There is one aspect that shakes me to the core to this day, something that does break my naturally strong spirit, and that is:

The Dark Simulants. Simulants are bots you can face in multiplayer mode, either alone or with friends. But.. Dark Simulants (Above the difficulty of Hard and Perfect Simulant types) are so fiendishly tough and agile, so quick to the draw (by mere milliseconds, it seems), so murderous, that you start to think twice about how good you are.

Perhaps I could beat a group of Darks with a little practice these days, but memories will scar me of the terror they have caused, the pain inflicted. No.. no pain. Death was instantaneous, as if head-shotting was the only thing they knew!

Duke Nukem 64 scares me lots because everything in the game revolves around a dark post-apocalyptic theme of blood and gore. I can describe this further in depth by saying that the aliens are hideous, the settings are strange and creepy, the puzzles show no contempt in somehow leading you to death or a group of shrieking enemies. The whole game just CREEPS ME OUT when I play it.

*Shiver runs down spine*

Guitar Hero as I know that I'll only play the same 10 songs when I've have mates round. And the fact "Demolition Man" gives me serious hand cramp, the only song to do so.

any MMORPGs, i cant stand the bloody things but i fear that if i play one i might find something i like about it and get temporarily addicted
i say temporarily because after a while i will undoubtly become rather bored with the thing and go play an actual game, not work because after awhile thats all RPGs are, work
having to spend countless hours leveling up one single skill just to have something come up that either contridicts your entire reasoning for leveling up said skill or the reason you leveled that skill up was very meaningless but you didnt realize that at the time and you ended up wasting away your life on one thing when you couldve done it on several other things that would be much, much better
i of course am speaking from experience, no i didnt spend that long on leveling things up but once it started taking a really long time to level up just once, i pretty much got the idea of the whole thing

so yeah, MMORPGs are evil...
