Games you find yourself helplessly addicted to.

Amalur. Why is it so much more fun than Skyrim? I don't get it. It's way more cartoony and the graphics in general kind of suck compared to Skyrim's beautiful snowy landscapes. Skyrim feels more real and immersive. Not to mention I get to slay dragons and shout people to death. So...wtf Amalur?

Just Cause 2. I have logged so many hours on both my steam copy and my other copy (NOT PIRATED!) that it is fairly embarrassing. Then some evil people went and made a multiplayer mod for it. My weekend just kind of vanished during the test.

Minecraft. It's too fun! It's beautiful styling, fun gameplay, lovable monsters, never-endingness and freedom make the game explosively enjoyable for me! And there's room for roleplaying with mods, and with the accessible skin creation thanks to the poor (but beautiful!) graphics mean you can play as almost anyone you want! Just anthropomorphise and you're set to go! I like designing my own skins. Again, it's a creative outlet!

And all my old games for the PS1. I play almost every one each year, or sometimes bi-yearly. It's a routine event which I refer to as the nostalgia-boom! It often moves on to some PS2 games such as Ratchet and Clank, and Timesplitters.

And the Elder Scrolls games. They will always be played. Every single one. I plan to one day play them all. Just Arena and Daggerfall to go, really. Although they're probably three times as cryptic as Morrowind...but I LOVE Morrowind, so...it'll probably be amazing.

You can get Daggerfall for free whenever you want on the official elder scrolls site. Or if you go searching the UESP wiki it can link you to a free version that already has updates and patches that fix the games more glaring bugs and already has DOSBox automatically running. In fact let me find that for you.

There ya go. I've sunk many, many hours into it.
It is very different than morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim and you may not like it but at the very least it should be an interesting experience.

Edit: Guess I should answer the OP huh? I"m hopelessly addicted to the old resident evil games (1 - Veronica) and finish one every week. Recently I discovered the wonders of Civ 5 (thanks to a 75% off Steam sale) and am definitely suffering from "One... More... Turn..." syndrome. Thats about it really.

I wasn't thinking like, right away...but thanks. I'm very adaptable when it comes to games so i'll probably enjoy it. I need to complete Morrowind's story, though, that's my main goal before actually playing any of the older ones.

And the worst offender- Animal Crossing.

All I did in Animal Crossing is farming whatever I can and sell it to Tom Nook, speak to the npc so they don't leave and do any event on that day. I did that everday for two hours and I don't know why since I can assure you doing that isn't fun!

Binding of Isaac. Dear God, 220 hours. Never thought I would enjoy such a punishing, skill-based game, but I can't help trying to prove myself to it.

I've actually got two games that are my crack. Pokémon Black/White and Maple Story. I actually have over 700 hours logged on Pokémon Black between level grinding and constant trips to the Dream World.

And yes...I will be getting Black/White 2 when they come out. I also highly expect to see the same bevy of cosplayers I saw at the Mall of America when B/W 1 came out. (God help us all...)

Left 4 Dead is my crack cocaine.

I've been running with various teams since release date and play it every week. I shudder to think how many thousands of hours I have on that game. Kind of sad considering how few maps there are.

Dragons Dogma. It's essentially Monster Hunter only in a fantasy setting.

This is my game too. I skip even sleep for it, not on purpose, but every time i start playing i stop when the first birds are starting to sing.

To my luck most of my game addicitions are only temporary. MP3 lasted almost a full month but this game will keep me longer in front of the tv.

I use to be totally addicted to WoW for a few months when I first started playing. I finally quit after a little over 2 years of playing it cause I was getting bored and logging in would make me feel physically ill. I don't much of an addictive personality, so it's hard for me to stay fully addicted to anything for too long. My next addiction will probably be GW2 once it comes out.

That's what has me "addicted" at the moment. It'll change from time to time (except for the Pokemon games)

Dota 2 this so much, haven't put the game down since I started.
Even looking past the shit community in a team oriented game. Even with the awful hell that is low priority. Even with the myriad of bad teammates that think they know what they are doing. Even the new F2P system causing cosmetic items to rule the market and the inevitable real ease that means people can easily get the game back because it's free so they can fuck around in it and ruin others people's game. I just absolutely love dota 2, I just wish it was gonna be for sale as opposed to F2P.

I go through game "obsessions" with a few games. I tend to go back to one after being obsessed with another for a while. Right now I'm on a MASSIVE Oblivion obsession, I can't stop playing it and when I do I'm thinking about it.

Others include the Resident Evil series pre-Resi 4, Golden Sun: TLA, Portal and Portal 2, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and the Fire Emblems on the GBA. The GBA was one of the best investments I ever made.

Minecraft 360 is proving to be a bit of a time-sink at the moment, but I haven't been properly obsessed with a game for some time now. I think the last real bad gaming addiction I had was the first year or so after Halo: Reach's release. Those damn daily challenges, and you just gotta get 100% armory...
