Skyrim or oblivion. It's first person. It's got a world to explore. Cool fantasy setting. But I find the whole thing soulless and uninspiring. I never found a drive to do anything in it even though I could do lots of things.

Well, the original Fallouts and Baldur's Gates. They're just so dated that I can't force myself to play them. Planescape Torment I could manage, since you could just talk and run your way through the game.

CIV 5. It is the prettiest, it has new features, it is the next step in the evolution of gaming... but much like civ 4 I don't like it as much as civ 3 and unlike Civs 3 and 4 I DESPISE CIV 5 IT'S A STINKING PILE OF CRUD
Oh man really? I just got it and I was hoping it would be good, not like Civ4. You think it could have peaked at 3? If you like that sorta game might wanna try Galactic Civilization 2, I love it.

I don't like Okami, it's got loads of things I like in games but it just bores me.

Batllefied 3, despite the awesome looking Frostbite 2 engine, the game just looks horrible on console due to the low res textures of everything, the maps feel far too big for the 24 player cap and the destruction is just minimalistic, it seems that 1 in 3 walls can actually be destroyed, which leaves the game in a state where no one even bothers with the destruction anymore. The environment variety is horrible too, as there are about 3 maps that arent set in a random desert, not that anyone cares though, because everyone seems to be obsessed with Operation Metro which is sad, because that is the least Battlefield like map.

The campaign is scripted to a point where you may as well just be watching a movie and just plain boring (aside from the mission Comrades which is actually really well done), when your squadmates slowly die-off, i didnt feel sad because i just hadnt made an emotional connection with them, so when squadmate #374 died, i was just like "Who?", even though i was most of the way through the game.

I then decided to get the PC version to try and fix the map size problem, but then i was met with another problem, not that many people play BF3 on the PC for whatever reason, so thats one game that i'll likely never play again.

The whole experience was just nowhere near as fun as Bad Company 2 which i still hold as the pinnacle of Battlefield games, that game was just brilliant.

The first Uncharted. It was so unrefined. Plus the plot was kind of boring, and the treasure at the end wasn't as cool as finding giant ancient cities.

I em astounded by the amount of escapist unable to play Fallout 1&2, though if you started on 3/NV I can somehow understand it would seem slowly paced to you.
Damn, you guys are making me feel old, 'cause I grew up playing original Fallouts (and Baldur's Gates) and I'm only 20.

On a similar note, my "why can't I enjoy this?!" game is Fallout New Vegas. It's a freaking Fallout game, it took step back from Oblivion pasted mechanics in 3 and went a bit closer to originals with dmg threshold/reduction and armor penetration, all those perks looked fun and survival skill actually seemed useful, yet I never made it out of the tutorial village. I blame that robot which greeted me with "Howdy neighbor!" instead of "The fuck do you want?" I somehow expect from Fallout game...

I loved Knights of the Old Republic, Sith Lords and, Dragon Age Origins. That being said, I absolutely loathed Dragon Age 2. I really liked the first Kingdom Hearts and, Birth by Sleep but 3DS is...well, it annoys the Hell out of me. Here's a weird one: I loved Zelda 2 and many, many other Zelda games. That being said, I absolutely hated Phantom Hourglass and, Spirit Tracks. I dislike Skyward Sword too...

Vagrant story sounded awesome and had everything I should have liked: it sucked.
Metal Gear Solid 2, don't know why to this day.

Games I should logically like? I'm not a computer what I like isn't in an on off state. It's a little more complex than that.

Borderlands. Shooter? Check. Open world? Check. Crazy, over the top guns? Check. A lot of those weapons? You bet your ass that's a check. RPG elements? That's a check. Sci-fi setting with strange monsters? Check. Final product? Dull, boring shooter that makes Call of Duty look fun.
I was in the same boat for awhile. Story sucked, and the game consisted of a whole bunch of wandering around in the middle of nowhere.

Then I played it with a friend, and it suddenly became about a million times better. Nothing beats nearly coming to blows over who gets the shotgun that shoots corrosive rockets.
I must throw in my hat and concur that Borderlands is pretty poor until you dive into it with a few friends. Friends being the keyword. Playing with friends is a great experience and can lead to great moments, especially in the better 2 expansion packs, but playing with strangers online was a shitty experience to say the least.

Fun just oozed from Bad Company 2, I couldn't enjoy Battlefield 3 after all they seemed to fuck up. The textures weren't a big issue for me but it was fairly ugly, lot's of bloomy light too and I hated that.

That depends on what you define "like" as. I like Batman: Arkham Asylum and think it does quite a few things well on every category it attempts, but I have zero motivation to actually play it. I like the original Metal Gear Solid, and indeed it's the only one in the series I like, but it bores me to tears to play the thing. I don't think there's any game I feel I should like but don't; that just seems silly to me. I can still admit that I like a game without liking actually playing the thing, but most people here have said "I should like this game even though it's absolute shit in my opinion in one or more areas", so I fail to see how it's really applicable; if it comes up short in areas you feel are important, why should you like it? Because other people do?

I did not enjoy Oblivion at all. I found it dull, very basic, rather lackluster and plain. This was likely because I played Fallout 3 before it, which was newer and had way more polish. I could never play Oblivion for longer then half an hour, it just felt like a chore to get through, like wading through mud or something. I like Skyrim, but Oblivion just doesn't hold up to the rest I'm afraid.

Despite it's loved-by-everyone status, I just find all the Uncharted games to be as dull as a wet box. I dunno why, because it has the elements of a great game, but it just doesn't click for me.

Battlefield 3 is also rather dull aswell.

I was also partially disappointed with Dead Space 2. Wasn't scary at all. It was fun as hell though. Visceral could make a great dedicated action game. It's also a beautiful game. It has some of the best level and sound design of the past couple of years. Great game engine too. It's just a shame it wasn't scary.
Oh, and that immortal Nemesis-esque necromorph from the last chapter is by contrast one of the worst pieces of game design of this generation. It killed the ending for me. It sucked all the fun out of the last chapter and replaced it with RAAAAAAAAAGGGGGEEEEEEEE.

Batman: Arkham Asylum and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Solid games but let's just say I really put boss fights in high regards in my favorite games. As such, they really pull down a great game for me if their bosses are so nonsensical or too simple for my tastes.

Arkham City fixed it for me and is one of my favorite games of all time. Right now, just thinking if possible future installments for Deus Ex: Human Revolution would not only fix the boss fights but also the ending.

Morrowind.

I picked up Morrowind for £2 or £3 after hearing how great it was.

It wasn't.

The outdated looks I can live with but the combat is just AWFUL! Fighting a guy, getting right up to his face and hitting him with a two-handed warhammer and the game says I miss? Screw this game!

Loved Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.

Thought I'd go back and try the original CRPGs, expecting something amazing.

I was rather disappointed.

The games haven't aged well at all, gameplay wise, I just couldn't make myself play through such dated mechanics, no matter how good the RPG aspects may be.
You're missing out on a lot, believe me. The very first few 'tutorial' levels of the game are pretty bland. But when you get out into the open world and look past its flaws, it gets awesome.

Plus, the targeting of the bodyparts is kind of more Dwarf Fortress-like than in FO3 and NV. Nothing like stabbing someone in the eyes and hearing their comments as they get blinded.

Trust me, you should give it a second try some day. Also, the amount of references to Fallout 2 in New Vegas makes it a crime to play it before 2.

Do it, Daystar. Do it, damn you!

OT: Well, Neverwinter Nights 2. I loved the first game, it is one of my favorites, if not the favorite, D&D game of all time. And NWN2 is very fun too, but I can't shake the feeling NWN2 is a graphically-enhanced and simplified version of NWN1. It just doesn't do some things like NWN1 did. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good game.

Bioshock. It's a first-person shooter with RPG elements and boss battles. But I just find it to be so incredibly bland and uninteresting.

Though Bioshock Infinite does look interesting.
