Are there any games (or movies for that matter) that love, but others hate?

For example, most people seem to think Too Human was a burnt turd sandwich, but I loved it.

You liked Too Human? I'm shocked... the dodgy control scheme instantly put me off and terrible design choices quickly made me trade it back in.

OT: Kane and Lynch... I quite enjoyed the campaign and I loved the online, too bad the servers all crashed and online games were almost impossible to come by.

Same here, loved Too Human, really really hope it gets a sequel because that cliffhanger ending was a huge dick move, and I want to see more of what happens.

Tried to get my buddies into Red Orchestra but they hated it. I think it's the best ww2 shooter ever made, period. It's a damn fine tank arcade-sim too.
Think the reason why they hate it is the odd recoil (The gun doesn't automatically return to where you point it), Ultra realism (all guns one-shot kill to the chest/head, cripple you in legs, grenades are really powerful, limited stamina, your aim wavers if iron-sighted too long, etc.), and because it's a damned hard game to play. But OH so rewarding once you get the feel for it and the dozens of maps.

I liked Too Human as well.

Nothing really good about it, but nothing really bad about it either, 'cept the plot of course.

Lets see:

Company of Heroes
Dawn of War DC and 2
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC and CoP
World in Conflict
Metro 2033
Call of Duty 1, 2, 4 and Black Ops
Toy Soldiers (a kickass Xbox Live Arcade game)
Plants vs Zombies
Halo CE
Starcraft II
Killzone
Star Wars Battlefront
Beyond Good and Evil
Tony Hawk American Wasteland

And many more...

Nope, you have fellow fans hidden somewhere in here.

I think you may have missed the point. This thread is about games you love, but other hates. Most of the games on that list are fairly universally loved.

As for me, I'd say DJ Hero (which seems that many don't like it from my understanding). It's fresh songs and refreshing not-Guitar Hero gameplay was really fun. Also, World at War. I LOVED Nazi Zombies, and everything else was alright as well. Overall, Nazi Zombies was enough for me to love that game more then a lot of others I've played.

NieR.
It received mediocre reviews, but damn if it isn't one of my favorite games of 2010. Very enjoyable characters, a gripping story, and fluid control.

Oh, and it has a damn good soundtrack. No kidding, this must be one of the fullest-sounding game scores I have heard in a long while.

Final Fantasy games are pretty frowned upon now I suppose but I still love them. Star Ocean too. There were a couple of Indiana Jones titles that I played awhile back that I enjoyed, I don't even remember the names of the games but they were based off Indiana Jones and they aren't talked about much so I assume that they aren't the most loved titles. Oh, I also fucking loved Deadly Premonitions. I liked the Lego games too.

I assume people would hate Tales of Symphonia and Golden Sun because they're JRPGs but they are my favorite games of all time.

Well, while I do think that the game had a fuckton of flaws I did play it all the way through because the story and the characters were actually quite engaging.
I'm not holding my breath for a sequel, but I wouldn't complain about one either. Moar story, pleeze.

I heartily second both of these. I've beaten that PoP game five or six times now, even going so far as to turn into an achievement hunter over it (which is extremely rare for me), and NieR, while a bit grindy at times, was one of the most enjoyable games I've played all year, especially regarding the soundtrack. Usually I download game soundtracks, but this one I actually bought.

Games? I love Battlefield: BC2. ALL of my friends on my friedns list, and my FIRL hate it. I have no idea why. I love this friggin game.

Movies? Gonna have to go with the BeastMaster movies on this one. I love 'em, no one else I know can tolerate them. I know too many rich, well-adjusted, in-the-know people I guess. I need to rub elbows with more nerds like me.

I dig that movie Mystery Men. It isn't a very good movie but I'm a big Tom Waits fan and he plays a really great mad scientist, he also plays a mean Devil (the Imaginarium), he also did the best performance of Renfield (Dracula) ever.

I don't think it was widely Hated really but I liked Brutal Legend. I appreciated the mix of open world GTAishness mixed with strategic Starcraftishness.

Speaking of gta, I also really liked Vice City Stories. I thought they did a good job of cramming a gta into a psp. And I'm also a big Genesis fan: playing as Phil Collins' bodyguard is pretty damn cool.
