I've found with some games, like Half-life2, i wind up actually preparing my self to play them; adjust the computer screen, turn up the volume, turn down the tv, get comfy in my chair, etc, just so i get the most outta the game~.
do any of you ever do this? and if so, is there a gameyou specificly do this with? or maybe i'm just crazy

Oblivion and Dragon Age.

I sit with my feet up and listen to the title music of the game for a little bit.

Not any recent game but I will be on the day I get FF XIII.
And I will vanish from existence forever.

RE5, convinced a friend to buy it, even though i hate horror games, him too, so we psyched ourselves up before we played. Turns out it was fine but still

Rock Band - I usually drink a large amount of something caffeinated (preferably Dr. Pepper, but Coke will do); it makes playing the drums more fun.

Street Fighter 4, I pay my respects to my shrine of Dan Hibiki, put on my pink gi, and perform the super taunt. Then I am ready to play.

MW2. I have to keep telling myself that camping is just a normal part of this game (at least on XBL it is, not sure about other systems) and you have to deal with it...in large numbers

Yepyep. Though it's not so much camping for me as it is the glitch'd maps (*shakes fist at heavens* HIIIIIGHRIIIIISE!!!!) and "server" lag.

A little Blind Guardian, however, always spices up my NetHack sessions. I get...into it. And I get pissed if I die. Which happens. A lot.

Before I play any fighting game on the 360, I switch out my standard wireless 360 controller for my Street Fighter IV FightPad. I also take time to set up my camera, as I've taken to recording my matches these days.

Dragon Age. I get comfy, grab snacks and soda, turn my volume up, and prepare to not move for five hours despite the fact that I keep telling myself I'm only going to play for 30 minutes.

Once I got Uncharted 2 late last year, with nothing to do, I simply devoted most of 2 or 3 days to playing it and just enjoying it for what it was. No interruptions, no conflicting events, just playing the game and having a great time, with the volume at the right level and with some amazing high-def graphics to look at. There was nothing else that I wanted to do other than make sure that I prepared myself to relax and enjoy the game as much as possible.

World of Warcraft, of course! Since I play it on a laptop, I have to set up an external mouse, find a comfy spot on the couch and have a drink by my side. And, sometimes, I have to do even more, like make sure I'v looked up quest info. or something beforehand.

Yep. This and Singstar with the Mrs. usually involves copious amounts of sugary stuff and warming up the ol' vox box.

I've spent a few hours over the past few days modding Morrowind in preparation for diving back into its glory.
