Shadow Complex, I just can't bring myself to spend any money on something with Orson Scott Card's involvement. Maybe I'd get a used copy, if it wasn't a digital only game...
What's wrong with Orson Scott Card? Ender's Game was amazing.
OT: There aren't really any games I absolutely refuse to play, but plenty that I can't get or am too terrible at to finish
He's a very vocal bigot. His words will forever taint my opinion of him...

What has he said? I don't think I've ever seen him write anything bigoted, and besides, the people who made the game only loosely set it in the Empire universe.

I don't want to link the stuff he's said, since spreading hate isn't something I'm into, but [link]http://www.nauvoo.com/library/card-hypocrites.html[/link], [link]http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700245157/State-job-is-not-to-redefine-marriage.html[/link], and there's much more out there, some of it worse. The fact is, I just can't send even the small iota of cash that buying Shadow Complex would give him. I don't think I could ever read Ender's Game without thinking about the person who wrote it either...

I refuse to play anything halo , i played halo 2 and wasn't impressed , i mean i could understand why people like it but not why it was so god damn popular not so long ago. I also refuse to play any gears of war game , but thats less because of the game and more because i hate 3rd person cover base shooters, so it's bassically the whole genre . So i stick with my first answer halo touched it once , never again.
I've played through the three core games and Reach and the second was the hardest for me to get back into. I remember enjoying it at the time but going back into it was like trying to play a half-finished game. Not just from a graphical standpoint either but from the amount of glitches and, invisible walls you could literally jump over.

---

Traditional sports titles. The only one I remember enjoying was Nascar 98' (I think...it was the one with paintball mode) and, NBA Jam on the SNES. I avoid the traditional sports games mainly because even if I was a sports fan I would actually go out and play the games. It isn't difficult to get some people rounded up for a game of 2-on-2 I'd imagine. I've been in this mind set for years upon years though, long before the whole 'EA makes the same game every year, screw them' thing started getting vocal.

I also stay away from MMOs. The free ones are all basically the same game and while I did enjoy Silk Road for a while I just couldn't maintain an interest. I even played a few characters in WoW but that couldn't keep my attention either. As much as I don't want to admit it, I'm probably going to be avoiding Old Republic and...another that I can't quite remember...I play solo anyway and dislike multiple payments on my games.

Anything from UbiSoft. DRMs that cripple the game something crazy; but wait, it almost exclusivity cause problems for the paying customers, since pirates just crack it in a day anyway. Almost all of the Ubisoft-games I bought in the past I now have to crack, because the damn DRM is compatible with Windows 7 or some of my hardware. Yet Ubisoft has kept this practice up for years, and now days I just ignore whatever shit they release, no matter how good ratings the games themselves get.

Command and Conquer 4;

Because you don't change EVERYTHING about the way a decade long franchise is played on what is supposed to be the main characters final outing. It's just... it's just WRONG!

Seriously EA, if you want to make a Dawn of War 2 knock off then by all means. I'll probably even let you slide on using the C&C brand so long as it's a Generals style aside. But you don't tinker with core gameplay design on a long running franchise and then sell it to me as the last hurrah for KANE's story arc.

Company of Heroes plays much more fun in non rushing games. Or simply games against AI players.

War games. I don't care what everyone says, War is NOT fun.
Because it depicts war?

Do you not play any games that depict death or fighting? Or is that okay so long as it's not called war?

Oh no not at all. It's hard to escape fighting and death in games nowadays. I guess my post was not well worded.

It's because most of the time it's the "nice americans" fighting the mean "insert random nationality" - Maybe I'm wrong and not all war games are like that (after all, I'm not a specialist in that genre) but it's what the "mainstream" war games appear to me.

None. I prefer to try anything at least once. If I find it good, I'll play it some more. If I had to say a game that I refuse to play it's madden. Because it got way to complicated and just stopped being fun for me around 2009

Call of Duty. It's not so much that I refuse to play it, just I refuse to see my psychiatrist again because of it. Also movie tie-ins. Oh, and most MMO's. I feel well picky.

I played Assassins Creed, and never liked it, too repetitive. MY friend keeps trying to get me to try on of the recent games, saying it has changed loads. No interest really. I guess I really should give it a go, maybe it has changed? Essentially it is still the same game I didn't like previously though.

It's the same reason I didn't play Mass Effect 2, and why I won't be playing Mass Effect 3 as well, because the first game in the series disappointed me.

Sports games, unless they're heavily stylized and contain fantasy elements that actually make a difference.

Mario Strikers = good.
Fifa 289546 = bad.

Halo. Because anyone capable of jumping 10 feet in the air while wearing a small hatchback on his back doesn't need my help in doing... anything really. xD

While I agree with what you say.. I dont go so far to boycott though but what do you actually play? Valve and indie games?
I have a plethora of games from said publishers from before I started boycotting them. So I play those, as well as any other games I want that aren't from that list of publishers. Oh, and yes, I do <3 Valve.

That's like half of the industry gone. What the hell could've screwed up your opinion of those three major publishers so much? And who in their right mind stops buying such a large chunk of games from our industry because of the publishers?
I boycott them because of their business practices. It's sickening, really. UbiSoft has ridiculous DRM, EA puts spyware on your computer, and Activision...actually, scratch out Activision, I don't have anything against them anymore. I was boycotting them 'cause I heard they wanted to charge people to play Call of Duty multiplayer (or something like that), but I haven't heard anything about it in over a year.
