Red Faction: Guerrilla - After seeing trailers for this, it looked like a great strategic game with huge places to blow up. What I found was a disappointing game with a very empty open world that should have had huge cities to destroy, a pathetic health bar, retarded friendly AI, weapons that failed to impress (Other than the ridiculously awesome Nanorifle), a worthless ammo carrying capacity, and a paper thin plot.
It didn't feel much like you were fighting a guerilla war either. Operation Flashpoint managed to pull this off, so I suppose I was using it as a basis.

Oblivion.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great game that holds a landmark spot in gaming history. But after awhile I felt bored, and just never truly got into it. Perhaps I'm just weird though.
Yep. You are just weird.

agreed I tried so hard to love this game but I couldn't. it had a few moments i liked and the credits music is awesome but overall I was disappointed by that game
Same, I also tried my hardest to love it, but it just really tried my patience.. A lot. There were a fair few times when I just had to stop playing because it just angered me so.

That cell shaded Prince of Persia.

At first I loved the art style, the things the Prince would say and the animations make me believe that running on the ceiling and jumping off of poles so swift and quick was actually possible, plus it reminded me of Okami.

Yet it got very boring and was just kinda repeating it's self.

Oh and unreal 2, I want to like it but I just can't it feels so slow compared to the first especially after playing UT.

For me it was God of War 3. Nothing felt new, controls felt sloppy and too many game events felt shoehorned in. Plus the "Gods" loooked more like my aunts and uncles than divine beings.

I was pretty hyped up about Prototype. Shapeshifting powers, parkour, zombies, and a hoodie? Count me in! Unfortunately, the entire experience.... reminded me or porridge. Dull, flat, and completely forgettable.
Combat was pretty much- 1: Run up to enemy. *clickclickclickclickclick*
2: Autoaim with gun. Empty magazine.

APB looked good before release, 'specially with the awesome character customisation. Due to location, I didn't even get to buy it!

...Judging from reviews, that was probably for the best. (not sour grapes... honest!)

I enjoyed Black & White a lot, the sequel less so. Damn you, sequels, always getting my hopes up.
I heard very good things about Neverwinter Nights 2, but I didn't like it at all.

On a more positive note, I bought the Orange Box for TF2 and Portal, but ended up finding out why people can't wait for Episode 3.

Star Wars - Republic Commando.

I thought it would be an action heavy, somewhat gritty FPS.

Just turned out to be another mediocre attempt to capitalize on the Star Wars franchise.
=O that game was amazing! best A.I squad ever in a game, smartest as well.

*looks at you with evil eyes*

Killzone (the original)
Really overhyped, and it just ended up being incredibly bland and samey.

Tekken 5. It was far worse than 4. Why do people want all that air juggling? It's a load of balls. Not to mention it went back to open environments after the awesome ones from 4, which were really diverse. Plus Heihachi from 4 was a fantastic final boss: tough, but fair, and he uses any tactic you can too. Compare jinpachi, who spams cheap unblockable attacks all the freaking time. I'm not exaggerating when I say he's the worse boss I've ever seen in any game ever. So Tekken 5 was like a crappier tekken 4 in every way. It was completely pointless.

None really. I don't do demos, seldom watch trailers (never gameplay trailers) so I don't go into a new game with assumptions. I just roll with it.

I've never bought a game where my expectations were higher than my reactions after playing through it.

Thought I'd give at least one different opinion to the mounds of similarity.

The best example I can think of is GTA 4. Not a bad game at all, but by far the worst of the series and absolutely undeserving of the distinction of highest rated Xbox 360 game of all time.

Dragon Age, billed as one of the best RPGs ever turned out to be the worst RPG ever.
