Games you wish you could mod.

Pretty simple really, we all have our favorite games. Some of them are really easily moddable, even if it is just texturing, but some are so damn hard to mod that it's nearly impossible.

Naturally, one of our favorite games will invariably fall into the latter category, and there's nothing we can do about it.

[TL;DR](really??) So escapists, what are the games you love that you wish you could modify/were easily moddable?

Personally, my choice would be Mechwarrior 4: Mercs. It's a great game, with a teriffic, if terribly dated engine by todays standards. If it were moddable, there would inevitably be some great new weapon mods, rebalancing mods, mech mods, not to mention some graphical mods, which would liven up the game enormously.

Duke Nukem Forever. It was supposed to get mod tools, until Gearbox bought the ip. Maybe they want to release the DLC first or something, I don't know. The mod community could make DNF so much better.

My first would be Tropico. (The first one) I would mod the time to not go so fast and perhaps go 50-75% slower progression through time. I would also like to add buildings and in some cases just the ability to rotate some buildings.

Next up, Roller Coaster Tycoon. Add in rides, shops, theme items, etc. It blows my mind there is no Ferris Wheel.

Finally, Alpha Protocol as I think the community would really make that gem shine. (I'll echo Mass Effect, along these same lines, here too.)

You see the stuff people come up with in Halo Reach's forge mode and options it has already? With full modding capability that game could last for a decade. I'm usually a big advocate of console over PC gaming but there's no denying the advantage that modding can have for a game.

The original Mercenaries. That game was so much fun and it would have been awesome to create your own missions! :D

I don't know about mods, but I always thought that mario kart needed a track editor.

After playing Fallout: New Vegas as a stealth character, I noticed some gaping flaws in design that made stealth broken. I started thinking about ways to fix it, then starting thinking about making a big stealth package that fixed several problems and included new things like security cams you could destroy or hack into to make stealing harder, having guards become hostile if they see a dead body to add realism, and adding non-lethal stealth items like chloroform to make passive stealth possible.

Then, I realized how much work that would be and said screw it to the whole thing. :)

Any game that hasn't been released yet. Horay for being able to run the game though the editor!

Actually I just want to be able to rip the content of Mass Effect apart to see how they did it sometimes. Hooray for god bones!

Mass Effect. (Especially since I started playing it after I modded the heck out of my Dragon Age: Origins)

Edit:
Oh, yeah, and Prince of Persia. It would be sooo cool if we could have a toolset to create additional environments to progress through a la 'Little Big Planet'.

Mirror's Edge. Not necessarily mods, but a level editor. Even if it's just a PTT style one.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Why? Because I want someone to mod out the 5 second animation of the prince sheathing his sword and dagger after every god-damned fight. I can't believe no one complained about that during QA testing.

I'm sure the mod community could have done great things with Deus Ex: Invisible War too. Maybe they could have improved the inventory system, removed the universal ammo bullshit, added location-based damage... and many other things.

Dear god I think about that every time I play it. If it had just been released on PC.

I hear ya on that one. Of course, the way companies these days feel about modding, it probably wouldn't have had mod tools anyway, which is sad. Thank God there's still companies like VALVe and Bethesda who promote modding.

But yeah, how cool would it have been to have had a battle between the North Koreans, The Allied Nations, China, South Korea and the Russians all in one city? All kinds of tanks, helicopters, artillery ... it would have been great! Also, I would have made it where you don't get a penalty for attacking the Allied Nations. I mean, what kind of bullshit is that? You're a mercenary! You don't hold an allegiance to anybody! Then why am I getting a fine for killing some random soldier?!

That never made any sense. Collateral damage? Yes, I can see that. But why do I have to pay $25,000 killing a single soldier but face no penalty calling a random airstrike on a building right in the middle of a city if it doesn't kill any civilians?
