I'll add to the Metroid love in this thread. In the kotaku interview (which I was going to link to before I saw OP had already done so) Shinya Takahashi said, "So at this point we have two different types of Metroid games. We have the Prime style of Metroid game and we have the more traditional style of Metroid game. We feel that we do need to take care of both of these styles of play."
To things right there that I can look forward to were just mentioned, 2D and 3D Metroids(!) and no word about Other M at all. (They seemed to have learned their lesson with how to treat the series and expect financial success.) I was so excited when I first read that interview. (I hope they go with something resembling Zero Mission for the 2D Metroid. IMHO, it perfectly captured the openness of Super, while being friendly to newcomers off put by having no direction.)
Otherwise I kinda lack the enthusiasm for other games but a few are out there in the distance:
Zelda U, after Skyward Swords laggy controls, they're going back to buttons(hopefully), yay
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse/Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, more metroidvania fun
DooM, If they recapture the chaos of the first two, it would be a good time to spend way to much on a new PC build.
Mighty No. 9, it's Mega Man, except without Capcom execs shooting themselves in the foot every time he's mentioned
