Didn't do much to make me want to keep playing.

Ditto - except I was quite little when I was playing this - and had a real hard time dealing with losing. I remember trying the boss about a dozen times and on the very last time when I got killed seconds before winning (I knew I was close, I watched my friend complete it).

I threw the N64 cartridge so hard against the wall it broke and I've refused to play anything Banjo Kazooie related since.

I have however improved on my bad losing

I was about 6 when playing banjo kazooie. I couldn't even get up to the boss. I was in the later stages of the game and couldn't open a note door or whatever. I looked everywhere for more notes then gave up. Thought screw it lets play Mario Kart. I too haven't even loaded the game after that.

I had much more fun playing Mario Kart that day.

You have no idea how happy I am that someone else was either frustrated or hated that game. I always end up talking to friends who are like "you found that hard? it was easy. Finished it in four days".

Mario Kart was always the way forward, and one of the only games I kept for my N64. Only others were Goldeneye and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Someone stole my Street Fighter

Anyway - HATE FOR BANJO KAZOOIE. And XBOX Live keeps telling me to download the arcade one. Eurgh.

Any Silent Hill game
I have played almost all of the ones available in the US with the exception of 3 and SM
I alway get to around the last boss and something always seems to prevent me from finishing. which suck because I Fucking love Silent Hill

SH0- Someone stole my UMD of it
SH1- Was playing it from the PSN and my PS3 died
SH2- Someone borrowed it and never returned it
SH4- My PS2 lens burned out
SHHC- Awhile back some work was being done at my house and a worker stole a bunch of my 360 games


Also I have never beat Super Mario Bros 3, When I fist got SMB3 It was in All-Stars + World and I was 5 and didn't care about beating game, it was only recently that I tracked down a copy of it

EDIT: God of War 2 and this one is really petty but when I first got it my brothers where told by our mom to not play it and one day when I was out with friends they got pissed off at me and beat my save and then erased it and I never had the will to restart. But as revenge I got my brothers copy of a Link to the Past on GBA and did the same to him.

Final Fantasy VII. Got to the final disc. About to confront the final boss form of Sephiroth and my game crashes. One tiny but veeery deep scratch defeated my level 80 party. Damn...

Red Alert 1 and Command and Conquer 1.

Command and Conquer 1 was way too hard for me in my youth and Red Alert 1 just...kept crashing near the end.

Now I can't play them anymore with the original CD's.

Loads and loads. I have trouble focusing on a game when there are many coming out at once. Saying that my real bugbears of my gaming life are from the C64 era.

Modern day: Oblivion. Formatted and never bothered to go back and try. Also Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2. Got about halfway in each and got bored.

There are hundreds of games I've never beaten, but as far as games that I wish I COULD beat go, I say Jet Force Gemini. I could just never find those last space ship parts. The game gives you NO hints as to where they all are, and just go "Go explore these 20 or so planets inch by inch with each of your three characters and maybe you'll get lucky."

My games design teacher taught me something which always comes screaming back to me any time I want to buy a new games.
I don't remember the exact figure, but something like 80% of games bought don't get completed.

The problem I have with completing games is that I'll play it, enjoy it, take a break after a few hours and then end up playing FFXI or TF2. Not to mention I have been really busy this year. So whenever I bought a new game, there was a nagging feeling that I really should be doing something else. Something less fun than playing games, making games.

Just looking at my pile of 360 games, I need to complete:
Assassin's Creed
Final Fantasy XIII
The Saboteur
Metro 2033

I don't have the same problem with PC games, strangely. The only games I haven't completed on my Steam list are Prototype and Silent Hill: Homecoming and I probably never will. Every so often I tell myself that I owe it to the first three games to complete Homecoming. Each time I get to the police station, I give up. Prototype I got onto the last few days, and then my laptop broke. Don't really want to play the whole thing again.

Wait, you have them and never beat them? When I got them, I played until I beat them, my parents had to drag me away from the TV on Christmas morning...

Anyway, I never beat:
Second Sight (it got annoying...)
Jet Force Gemini (you are forced to rescue every fucking tribal in the entire game (or whatever those bears are that I keep blowing up...) so that means playing everything over at least twice (and you have to pick the right character for the job because there's three of them => boy, girl, dog))
Knife Edge Nosegunner (I can get to the final boss, but he is IMPOSSIBLE)
Splinter Cell (got annoying like Second Sight...)
Command and Conquer (for the N64, mostly control issues, and difficulty)
and others...

Oh and it took me a about 5 years to actually finish a game of Civ 3 (my attention span was shit).
