Ok so I was just recently banned for a month from gamesharing yet the strange thing is that I had already done this before with two of my friends who are fellow owners, and I'm a little surprized that it happened now and not much earlier. So I'm left to wonder if they just recently started to crack down on gamesharing or was it because the info was handed through the messaging on the PSN were as with my friends I got the info from IM and phone calls. So if anyone else has any answers they would be much appreciated.

EDIT: I was contacted by someone who I was playing Burnout with and theyhad asked if they could get some DLC for the game from my account and I gave him the info and he got the DLC off my account. Then he gave me his account info and I went on to his and got DLC and some DLgames off of his account.

I was seeing if anyone would possibly know why I was able to do this with my friends for about a year and a half and then this guy comes along and I get banned.

You got banned for sharing games? Not overly sure what you're on about.
If so what about rentals?

Are you talking about something I don't know anything about? Because if you're talking about simply sharing games, I have no idea why you got banned.

Wait, some random guy asked for you to help him do the gamesharing thing, then you got busted?

Ever heard of a Sting operation?

Possibly sharing game data? ie, saves, trophy data, that kind of thing.

Just a guess.

If I am correct, and I am pretty sure this is right because friends have asked me for this, "GameSharing" is when you trade account info to download games that the other person bought.
Ah, welll that sounds like it would end up taking money away from sony, so obviously they would try to punish you once they found out.

Oooh, I see.

That is ban-worthy.

OT: Are you asking for help to lure the system? It seems like you want info on this so that you can do it without getting caught. That is report-worthy. Answer, and don't be afraid because the Spanish Inquisition won't come.

I think he's talking about when you download a game then use the profile that has it purchased and let other friends play it by downloading it from your profile on their HD. For Castle Crashers on XBLA, I bought it played it on my HD, then transferred my profile to my friends for him to free download. I played it on my friends HD, but went back to mine and found out my stats have been reset. Also my friend bought shadow complex and only his profile can play it, even if on same HD. I think that's what he's talking about at least, just there to prevent alot of money that could have been from being lost.

EDIT: I don't think XBL would ban you, just prevents others from playing.

Looking at the edit, yes that is why they banned you, but they know that you're doing it they don't even need to look at your IMs. I've been reading and it looks like people who do this 5 times are banned probably indefinitely, so maybe this is your warning.

Great, now he'll expect us.
Nobody comes, especially nobody involved in inquisitions of the spanish variety.

Wait what?

As far as I am concerned don't you need to sign in with your profile to play downloaded games?

I have separate accounts on my PS3 and Xbox (for different members of the house) and they cannot play a game on their profile if someone downloads it from another profile.
Actually, as long as you save the file on the PS3, other accounts can play it.

I bought Megaman 9 on my account, and my friend has played it on his lots of times.

That's just mildly illegal and violating the TOS for PSN. I imagine that they only ban people who make a habit out of it though, as chasing down every person that did this would be inefficient, they'd look for people that had multiple offenses. Next time don't fileshare.

But...

What?

I can't...
Hu, weird...

It should work. I don't know what is wrong with your PS3, so I can't help. Sorry.

Except for the quoted version.
Then can you change it?
Already fixed on my end, now you must fix the one where you told me you fixed it.
I completely forgot the exact thing I wrote when I edited my first post, so I improvised.

Should work fine though.

i dont have any idea how the ps3 download and file tranfers work but on the 360, if i take out my HD and put it in my friend's xbox, i cant access any dlc, it must inputted into the box that it was downloaded into for access to those files.

Wait, you swapped games with a random?

It sounds that way and if that's the case why? Randoms asking that kind of thing couldn't have STING written on them any brighter if it were glowing.

Or.

XBL and PSN don't hand out bans instantly, but at delayed intervals. Ostensibly it's to stop hackers deliberately getting banned to pick up data on how/why it happened so they can develop work arounds, but it may also have just got you as well.
