GameStop CEO Says "Wow" to Battlefield 4 Preview

The whole Realistic Military Shooter thing has ran its course for me personally. I abandoned CoD games about two or three years ago, I got tired of paying for essentially the same game every year. I played BF3 for a few months, but quickly grew tired of all the private servers and overpriced DLC I would never be able to afford. Since then I've decided to play other games hoping the whole yearly realistic military shooter thing would just go away.

I don't think I'll hold my breath.

Screw BF4. Let Dice free EA and then Dice needs to make BF2143. I do not care about the current "Modern" competition with EA and Activision.

Gee, I was expecting the GameStop CEO to say, "Man, this game is pretty dull. I wouldn't recommend buying it from my stores."

Thats nice. I'll still be playing BF2.
How's the population? I'm thinking of getting BF2... Any specific mods where the multiplayer scene is focused around?

Well, they lost my sale when they decided to charge 15? for the 4-map DLCs and then decided to release the "premium" service for 50? but decided to also bundle it with the core game for 50?, essentially giving it free to anyone who didn't buy the game in the first three months, yet still expect me to buy the premium thing for 50? even though Id already spend 50? on the game and 30? on the first two DLCs.
Heck, BC2 got about 5 or 6 new maps in free updates and had the Vietnam expansion which also cost 15? for a way more content then the BF3 DlCs.
Yeah, that's annoying as fuck, turned me off Battlefield greatly. I gave CQ a miss (because I don't play BF for close quarter no-vehicle maps), then when I came back for Armored Kill (that I was quite excited about), I just couldn't get into it as much as I would, thanks to the good servers mostly being Premium ones that I was denied access to.

And very much agreed on your point of "hey, let's reward the players who DIDN'T have our game 3 months into it". I pre-ordered the game and wasn't interested in CQ (also had no idea about what Aftermath and End Game would be), so paying more money for what I could get with buying single DLCs one at a time didn't seem like an idea that made much sense. I also remember them saying the only bonuses outside the DLCs would be visual, but here we are, a while into Premium, and there are Premium-only servers. They mentioned the faster queuing and while I was against that too, I said fuck it, I'll wait a minute or two more per game. But actually denying me access to a game I bought because I'm not a Premium subscriber? You know what, fuck you EA and fuck you DICE, even if this idea was pushed on you, you're a bunch of pansies for not being able to stand up for your own game.

Sadly, BF being my preferred game, I'll likely still buy BF4 simply because I need an online FPS to play and nothing else is really my thing. I will however, as I have so far with refusing to buy the new DLCs, be much more careful and restrained about it.

I really loved BF2. If they can recapture that magic then i'll totally be up for it but BF3 was a mess and waste of money if you ask me. Glad I never bought any of the ridiculously priced DLC or premium crap.

I've still got a few servers on favorites that usually get full and are good fun. I just play the normal version but modding was supported, trying to think of the popular one now. I know there was a musket themed one where it took like 2 minutes to reload. Oh, 'project reality' was the big deal as far as mods went. If there are any modded versions with decent populations that'll be one for sure.

Let's see what Tracy Morgan has to say [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg2u_De8j5o] about it.

But seriously, this game starts to become the COD for rich kids who have the money to buy a NASA-esque computer to run it.

Hahaha. What I love is that the big Battlefield 3 Origin sale, despite it now being 2013 and well after the release of the game, slashed the price of the Premium Edition from £45 to £26.

But Battlefield 3 Premium Edition has been sold on Amazon for at least a year at about £32. Literally the standard retail price for this game is about as good as their sale price (in relation to the £45 original price tag). EA really, really have no clue how to conduct business. See also: all the Sims 3 releases on the Origin home page. Hundreds of pounds of DLC. £30 "expansions" that are small, inconsequential features.

In fact, Sims 3 is some kind of money-grabbing utopia. A full price game, with over-priced DLC, AND in-game microtransactions. Fuck off, EA, and get your malarkey out of my Battlefield.

I know that BF3 is just Call of Duty-aping modern military shooter crap, but the multiplayer is kind of fun in its own way. But the more I see of EA fiddling with the release schedule and content plans, the more I see a once-great franchise pounded into muck by EA's Icarus-like hubris. Their preposterous greed.

And now I'm sad.
HEY! there is a huge difference between losing your mind and wanting to play inception with a giant burning chemical reaction, hehehe best third degree burns evaRRRR! And just wanting ALL the MONEYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS... Yesss Preciouusssssssssss... So don't insult Icarus with a totaly out of kilter comparison. EA has no soul, but Icarus probaly had just a little too much.

"Thanks!, here's a link to a sale that doesn't apply to your store"

The Origin marketing people are doing it for the lulz, clearly.
