GameStop Expects Black Ops to Out-Launch Modern Warfare 2

Going to check out my local Gamestop tomorrow and see how it went. Might as well see what the employees thought of the game and read some reviews before I make my decision.

You might want to remember that MW2 got reviews that were just as good or better than modern warfare so you might want to wait a few months before you buy so that the really frustrating shit can be discovered before you buy.

Could be... but MW2 had two huge things running for it: Controversy, and the success of CoD4. Black Ops only has one of the two, and critically and among fans MW2 isn't quite as universally hailed due to the camptastic nature of the multiplayer. It could outsell MW2, but I expect that it will fall just a little bit short.

having returned from my stores midnight launch a few hours ago, i can safely say there were more people there for black ops than there were for mw2. and i believe we took more pre-orders for it too. And so far, the game is rather good

I think out-launch means beat in first day sales.

This article makes me depressed. I could think of so many games that deserve "the biggest launch that we've (Gamestop) ever had, that the industry has ever seen" more than this.

I'm sure the game will be good, (after all, they haven't made any changes since MW2 that could be construed as a downgrade) but when I picture the people making up these midnight lines, I picture a bunch of angry teenagers who've never played a game that doesn't involve shooting people in the face or putting a ball into a hoop/net/zone.

im excited. gonna go to gamestop in the near future and get it. ive seen a few Youtube Commentator gameplays, and it looks like it punishes bad players and reward the people who put time into it.

Not right. Trey-Archs multiplayer has always been unballance and it's campaign lackluster to the point of frustration. The only thing they have at all is nazi-zombies, and that was a little add-on side project. When the little experiment is what sells your game and not the actual game, I'd call that a failure.

i hate seeing people write this. WaW´s campaign was just as good, if not better than COD4´s. and CoD4 has the most frustating multiplayer of all time. EVERYONE on PC uses 3x frag, stopping power martyrdoom/last stand with a red dot nub-p5. the connections and hit detection are terrible.


Treyarch had the most balanced CoD game to date. the MP40 wasnt that big a deal. you shoot him 4 times with any other guns, you move up.
