The PS3 and Wii have been out long enough, and are doing well enough to get a price cut. Right now seems like a great time to do it. Maybe Sony can announce a PS3 cut at E3 so that they can spread the word faster.

price drop? don't hold your breath or go on a hunger strike , sony is aread selling the ps3 at a loss of $200 ,but a price drop of games would be even better and the accessories especially the controllers would be appreciated ,and ps3 in another color would be coolbut not necessary as for nintendo wii a drop off a high building would be cool instead of a price drop ,

Well Inigo, it depends. For all you know the PS3 could be being sold at retailers for -very low profit margins. His stockholders also wouldn't allow him to make a price cut to take a loss on hardware, because they own the company, not him. Retailers always sell things on the same profit margin, it's how their stockholders want them to run. All this guy is saying is if sony wants those number, they need to drop prices, and he anticipates them doing so. And frankly, he's absolutely correct. It'd be a little rediculous for sony to release anticipated sales numbers and him to say "If Sony wants those numbers, I'm going to have to drop prices." He's not making Sony's business plan.

Why doesn't he just drop the price?
Because then he'd be selling them at a loss...?
Isn't that exactly what he's asking Sony to do?
Yes, but he's the Retailer. He depends on selling it for profit, whereas most console manufacturers have always sold consoles at losses and made it up with games.

EDIT:
