I'm very irritated with GS right now.

I pre-ordered 2 WEEKS in advance the GS Collector's Edition of DoA5. 2 Weeks. Paid with a gift card and little bit left over from my Credit Card.

Game came out Tuesday - still hasn't shipped.

Call to ask why - its on "Back Order". I'm sorry, what?

I pre-ordered 2 WEEKS ago. You knew how many copies you needed. A pre-order is made TO AVOID THIS VERY THING. I don't care that you have normal copies; I want the CE I pre-ordered and paid for. (Not to mention the Standard Edition boxart is so generic and bad its painful)

You know how unlikely it is that you're going to get any more CE's in Gamestop? They're called "Limited/Collector's Edition" for a freaking reason.

I mean really....how the hell do you mess this up?

Sometimes I wonder how GS stays in business. You'd think stuff like this and all the terrible PR and business reviews they get as well as their obvious over-extension of brick and mortar stores would hurt them something fierce.

You realize that two weeks, in terms of a store, is basically the same as walking in five minutes before release and asking to reserve a copy, right? The orders are put in earlier than that. And while they order extras to compensate for events like yours, they can still sell out of those. If you really want to be sure you get the Limited Edition, go in as early as possible. At the latest, two months before release, not two weeks.

2 weeks is (actually 3 technically) 2 Tuesdays worth of shipping and new orders; more than enough time to order and receive extra copies.

And since I ordered ONLINE, from the website, it means that they have basically their entire country's worth of supply to find copies.

It ridiculous, no matter how you cut it.

(And the CE was still listed as available up until 3 days before the game launched, so there is that too.)

They stay in business because people, like yourself, keep going back to them, even if they know that they are paying for a sub- par service. The only way places like this get better is if you let your wallet do the talking - currently it's saying "screw me over as much as you want because you have my money and I have nothing to show for it".

I agree that GameStop is definitely not the best retailer in the world, but people make GameStop out to be the devil. The same BS would happen if it was any other retailer.

If you have a mom and pop store that sells video games then of course they likely to offer a better experience, but you are going to pay more in my experience.

Yeah, gamestop has terrible customer service. I guess that's why steam is so popular. Capcha: more better. So true.

The pre-order is a contract between buyer and seller. If a particular store cannot hold up their end, I'd say it's perfectly reasonable to be annoyed. The buyer doesn't know the logistics; gamestop does.

Today they offered me $5 for SSX and $17 for Persona 4 Arena (I haven't traded in anything since Pikmin and FF12, so I forgot how stingy they were). I was depressed by that and decided to just keep them. Maybe SSX will get some personality DLC (haven't check out the Eddie mountain stuff, is that good?) that removes the stupid filter on character voices and makes them look more distinct and fulfills the expectations of my nostalgia in the quirk department. SSX Tricky was the only really great SSX to me. 3 was good but ever since then it's lost more and more personality. I wouldn't be able to tell my SSX: On Tour for my PSP was even an SSX game, were it not for the trick system.

As for P4A, I wanted it to be my next fighting game--my first real foray into the genre being SSF4:AE. But, it just didn't feel awesome like Street Fighter did right off the bat. Also, my fight stick appears to be dying, so that compounds the lack of enthusiasm. Oh well, guess I'll at least get to enjoy its story once I finish Persona 3 and 4. If Tartarus doesn't bore me to death first.

GameStop's used game return policy is pretty awesome. I went through 3 games--first one game, then two cheaper games--in less than a week, but they never yelled at me for being a nincompoop. Finally settled on Walking Dead. Other than that, GameStop is meh or annoying. I just pre-ordered TWO games, don't ask me if I want to pre-order some more and buy a membership card. I gave you my business now leave me alone. Can I buy a card for a nominal fee that signals you not to pitch all the products ever at me while I'm checking out?

Gamestop stays in business because we have friends that work there and there are parents that don't realize that ebay and amazon have the same stuff only much cheaper. And for kids it's like a candy shop, every wall aligned with games and some stores have systems set out for you to play. Don't forget their point system either, yeah it takes a lot of purchases to get anything worthwhile but if I'm going to pay the same price regardless of where I get a new game or system then I might as well go to gamestop for the points.

Eddie is just another skin, don't even remember him getting dialogue. I got him on preorder

Mt Fuji is free, and pretty nice.

The classic pack is just skins again, but at least you can play as not-shitty psymon

Still no word.....damn you Gamestop.

Why even let people pre-order if you're going to have issues filling the order?
