Does anyone else feel like the trade-in credit at Gamestop isn't that worthwhile? I feel that i turn in games for around $8 and they turn around and sell it for $25. Also, does anyone know the criteria for how they price a game's trade-in value?

All the stores capitalise on this so it's that or nothing. We don't really have a choice.

Umm... that is the point of the store. They should profit on your sale. Why complain? They provide a service that, if you sell, you are agreeable to. If you believe that you deserve $8 for a game, then who cares what they sell it for.

They are a business out to make a profit. Dont get me wrong I feel so ripped off everytime I have to trade in 2 or 3 games to get a single new one then see the games I just sold being put on a shelf for several times what I paid. Thats why I dont trade in games anymore. If I cant afford to buy, I rent it. Much better in the long run

Umm...did you consider that if no one buys your copy of *insert game here*, they don't make money?

They give decent money for in-demand titles. Or new titles.

If Gamestop is the only choice, I'll go for the Starbucks cup of coffee option. I will try to get more if it is possible.

Well if you feel you are getting rooked sell the games on eBay or just rent games, it would be much cheaper that way. I never turn in games so I don't have this trouble.

It's like a pawn shop, they give you very little money and they turn around and sell for more than twice/thrice what they paid you but if it takes 6 months/forever to sell your stuff they're boned with it (sleeping inventory = net loss for a store)

You expect them to do what ? give you 20$ for a game they'll sell 30$ ?(maybe tomorrow, maybe in 2 months, maybe in a year, maybe never)

You could get an Ebay account, sell the game for half Gamestop's used price and make twice as much cash.

That is true, but it is a fair amount of hassle doing it.

Of course it's a rip-off. How else would they make their money? Really there's nothing else they can do. It's not the their fault, it's the fact that if they bought your game for 50 bucks and sold it for 50, they wouldn't make any money off of used games and new doesn't sell enough alone.

I took 30 Xbox360 games into Gamestation (the UK version of Gamestop), they were going to give me under £20 for the lot.

I told them to go fornicate themselves.

some games have good trade in value.

For instance, right now, at my EB, mass effect 2 and dante's inferno both have 40 dollar trade in value.
