A friend and I are walking around the local mall today. We stopped into a Gamestop to browse around. Well I noticed that they are selling the Collector's edition, and the regular editions of Fallout 3.. FOR THE EXACT SAME PRICE. I continued to browse, and noticed that in the PS3 section, they had Oblivion (Both the original and the GOTY edition) At the same exact price also. Since the GOTY edition has downloadable content (That is worth roughly around $15-20 {Feel free to correct me on that} It made me wonder why they didn't boost the prices for one, or even read the back of the box for that instnace) I didn't know what to think at the time. Just a pretty odd story that I thought I would share. But no, this thread actually has a point (Shocking isn't it?) if anyone has any idea: Whats up with it. I'd like to hear from Gamestop (Or EB Games) Employees if this was just a fluke, some sort of policy, or what?

Well they don't charge extra for the GOTY edition so I don't think anyone's getting fired.
Oh. Thanks for that.

Really?
Thats it?
Did you ever think that they may be unloading EVERY copy of the game that they had? Maybe they didn't want them in stock, and are making room for a new game? Think before you speak...

Do they even have Gamestops in Canada? I don't think I have ever seen one.
We have the GameStop equivalent, called EB Games. They always annoyed me...
Bleh. I hate those guys, give me $3 for a perfectly good copy of NHL 05 for Gamecube why don't you! They also charge like $5 more than Walmart, and they sell used games for $4 less than new games!

I actually had a good experience today; sold my old DS for 33% of the MSPR back in '04, which for most tech stuff is a good deal (though it was also part of the DSi upgrade deal they had).

Gamestop charges the same amount for the collectors editions/limited editions as well as the regular editions after they get traded in.

The reasons are that cases can get torn up, and they don't want to have to put a price on the value. All games in Gamestop's system have the same price, regardless of condition or if they have a case or booklet, it is easier for them that way. This isn't a great way to do business, but it's how they operate.

Regarding the DLC, the code was probably used anyway, so I don't think you would get the extra's.
Thanks for shedding some light on that. I've never worked in a gamestop, and I really don't plan on doing so. It just seemed like a rather odd scenario. Thanks again.
