I don't see it as too bad, personally. When my mom tried getting all bent about it when I was in high school, I pointed out a few simple facts. I didn't smoke, I didn't drink very often. I came home when I said I would, and I had a job to pay for my expenses. Mostly though, I wasn't out getting in fights or getting every sophmore girl in the school pregnant. There are worse things to be addicted to than video games. (And no, I wasn't a shut in. I was also in a garage band.)

Yeah, i'd say it is. Anything that gives you pleasure has the potential to be addictive no matter how absurd it might be. Gambeling, sex, and (i just read this, not making it up) even baby addiction? are all things i've heard people addicted to, with the highest probably being addicted to hand sanitizer...

And if you can be addicted to that stuff, why the hell not vidoegames?

I mean, don't we judge games BY how addictive it is? Call of duty 4 has been called addictive innumerous amounts i'm sure...maybe its a different kind of addiction, i'm not sure.
addiction: ?noun
the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

this can include video games. some people like me, have highly addictive personalities. i got into video games long before i ever knew that. i do have an addiction, if i'm away from my games for too long....lets just say its not pretty....withdrawls are never fun.

so yes, it does exist and can be both good and bad.

If I'm an addict, then I will be going through life getting an occasional fix to stop the withdrawal pains.

I agree with most of you guys, I mean addiction to videogames is being blown hugely out of proportion, especially when considering the many alternatives to which one could be addicted to.

Think about what you're doing [essentialy] while playing a game; your coordinating thought [GOOD] and action with eye movement [ALSO GOOD]. If I'm not mistaken that's the definition of a sport. If games are considered a negative addiction then every [professional] athelete should be ashamed of themselves. Geez, it's just entertainment...

Go ahead and Binge !
