Hmmm.... depends on who is in the room for me.

If it's someone that I know that plays games then I don't mind, but if it's someone that doesn't then it's just weird for me. With the latter, they will typically make comments on it that are just annoying, especially if I'm trying to concentrate on something.

This is the same for me. Al though my Mom watching me play the intro of Witcher 2 on 360 was interesting. XD

Haha I bet, well anything like that with the parents is going to be an adventure. I remember my dad coming into the room while I was playing Silent Hill 2 with the Pyramid Head rape scene in the kitchen, that was hard to explain.

I don't mind it at all, I enjoy it for the most part. There are times I dislike being watched, usually when I'm doing terrible or am lost and just wandering in circles, but I like being able to share my experience with others. When I'm at a friends house we'll often both be playing games and just yell at each other when something happens or share our favorite parts. I would hate to be watched by someone who hates games but I don't know anyone like that.

For certain games, namely RPGs where I get engrossed in the story, I feel I must be absolutely alone. Having other people there just totally ruins the immersion.

If I was playing a fighting game, or a shooter or something like that, then no I don't care, and I may even ask if the other people want to join me.

If the game is strongly based on story, and someone comes in talking, I can't deal with it. If it isn't as heavily reliant on story, I don't care as much.

I'm not exactly sure what the OP means. I don't mind playing games alone, but I'm used to my girlfriend playing on the PC, which is right next to our TV, while I play on the PS3. Sometimes we even happen to be playing the same game at the same time.

I don't mind at all. One of my favorite things is playing single player games with my girlfriend and switching off. It's pretty awesome helping each other out.

I play on my PC mostly, so it's generally a personal experience. Though I usually like people watching me. It's fun!

Totally don't care if people are watching me. I find it fun, actually. Mostly because you and the other people react differently to something. Like, I was playin Arkham City at my birthday party and I had friends crowded around me watching and telling me to 'do this' or 'go there, maybe that would solve the puzzle' and they did help sometimes.

But I do hate it when somebody is watching me play and points out every flaw I made in every firefight/RPG battle I am in. That annoys the shit out of me.

Totally depends on the game.
Some games are more fun to watch than to play, actually.
It also depends heavily on who is watching, of course.
Non-gamers tend to be more awkward than your sworn gaming buddies.

I don't mind if someone watches me play.. just don't expect me to be much of a conversationalist. I've always found it tough takling to someone and playing a game at the same time.

Meh, I have no problem with people watching me while I game. I've never minded and in fact, I tend to do better if I know I have an audience.

I also live alone so if anyone is watching me play, it's because I want them to watch me play (or more likely, we're taking turns in Call of Duty or something).

Or they're watching you through your window.

OT: I don't mind. But it's hard to watch the cut scenes if there's an audience, especially a non-gamer audience because they expect you to skip the cut scenes.

To be honest, I agree that it depends on the game, like those with romance and sensitive influence. Hoever, I love playing games with people around, friends, family or otherwise because of the comentary I hear is amazingly funny. Heres an example:

I was playing Fatal Frame with a couple friends in the room, and not only did they freak out half the time, they also pointed out stuff I missed. Items, rooms, and the like helped improve the experience for all of us, especially when we ran into stuff I havn't seen before.

At the same time I can understand playing by yourself, when it comes to games where you do not want commentary or help. If it's your favorite series or just a continuation to a very charming game, you might feel you want to experience it yourself before letting others in. That much is natural, but you might have more of an issue with your sister and her friends than you do with gaming alone, if they are chatty or obnoxious it might ruin the experience for you.

I must applaud your self control. If it were me I would have simply told them to fuck right the hell off with their demands, and that if they wanted a chance to use the TV at all for the rest of the day they had best fucking ask next time.

I don't mind it all that much. I will tend to keep Fallout 3/NV out of other's eyes due to some of the mods I run, I don't exactly relish the idea of explaining to my christian father why the player character looks like this [http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/596935194125966302/D8F4055DBD253224C0D65D8BF576ACCE7F5792E2/], but for the most part I don't care if others watch me game.

Well, I was until the point where all of them finally left except one who when I asked to leave said, "No I'm texting and this couch is comfortable." I believe saying something along the lines of fuck it before storming out.

I guess it all depends. I really want to say "No, I can play as well alone as I can when I'm being watched" and while I think that's mostly true, I find it harder to start a game when other people are around. Like, if I'm on my own I can pick a game, pop it in and be playing in seconds but if I'm picking a game for co-op it takes me a while to get into the gaming frame of mind (of that makes any sense). Once I'm already in the game I'm there and, perfectly fine.

I generally don't mind, unless I'm playing something heavily player-driven like ME3 or the Witcher 2, etc.

I guess I don't mind people watching general gameplay, but I'd rather go through cutscenes and dialogue with no one watching.
