Dishonored was shit, Journey should have won.

But it's not the worst thing the Bafta's have ever done, remember Black Ops? Yeah, that happened...

But Dishonored was in my bottom 5 games for 2012 so I feel like yelling "Stop liking what I don't like!"
The silver lining, I suppose, is that when people start ripping off Dishonored they couldn't possibly make a worse game.

Oh god why did I say that out loud...

Wait, srsly?

Persona 4: Golden didn't win in the mobile/portable category?

This be some screwed up shit.

Also, Journey won five awards and lost best game to Dishounered, which didn't win anything else? Yeah, makes sense to me.

You get used to it very quickly, trust me. You should check out older FPS's, like Deus Ex and the Unreal series. You should be able to run those.
System Shock 2 is out on GoG now too. I'm not saying it's a crime not to like it, but I think not having mentioned it will get you a free ride in a police car.

As for the awards, it's nice they're paying attention and taking some well regarded games. It's the BAFTAs, it has a long history of comparing apples and pears to tell you which orange is better, to the confused cries of "really?". But at the end of the day it's drumming up some public interest in some fairly niche and original games (well, Journey) which would go overlooked otherwise.

Also, Ronaldo GIF is my favourite since "More naked hoes".

Heh, probably not, since the PC itself has explodified :p

However, I did struggle to run games like Psychonauts and even Red Alert 2 on that PC. It really was a bag of wank.

It's just a stupid joke. I complained about appealing to casuals for money. get it?
(Also, check the nationality in my profile for twice the stereotyping)
Oh no, not a German. Now I'm going to have to start making jokes about how much better we are at World Wars than you, and bringing up that one time with the World Cup...

lol. I bet someone could set the politics board here on fire by doing this :D.
Feel free to attribute my post to anyone you feel like in the future. You're welcome ;).
I'm kinda tempted to start attributing really racist or homophobic stuff to Daystar, to see how long it takes before that little cult of followers he's got starts to turn on him >:-D

I'm actually on the side that prefers first person view in stealth games. The reason for me is quite simple: The first person view, if done right, gives the perfect idea of what the enemy can see of me. One thing I really struggled with Deus Ex: HR for example (where you went into third person if you were behind cover, an essential thing for the stealth gameplay) was that in my mind in nearly 50% of all situations I should have been visible to the enemies (to the point where a clear line of sight exists on screen but due to mechanics the enemy ignores me).
It may give you an idea of the enemy field of vision, but it's really bad for letting you actually see where those enemies are, so in effect they could have 360-degree vision for all that it helps you :p

Dishonored made it in a way that if I expose too much of myself (i.e. I look around a corner and show too much of me) the enemies will see me. It is basically a risk / reward system as well as a more realisitc approach to stealth. With a proper FoV setting and equal implemented mechanics I take first person stealth over third person every day.

Also, my experience was quite opposite. I was always quite sure if I could make a move and never had problems with the Dishonored camera. On the other hand I really get problems with third person stealth because mechanics too often clash with what is actually shown.
My attempts at stealth flopped so hard in Dishonoured that I wound up abandoning it entirely and just murdering everyone. Not that this wasn't sometimes fun, but I felt a bit guilty about it...

I'd have given voice over to whoever did the voices of Lee and Clementine in Walking Dead.

They joined together to break my heart.

Wow, when did you buy that one? '95? Even the old '98 hunk of junk in my attic can take Red Alert 2.

Does anyone know what The Room is? I've never even heard of it before, but it sounds indie.

I'm really glad the BAFTA's are doing this. If they become gamings premier awards, I would not be disappointed at all. They make pretty decent choices and seem to lend a touch of prestige to the whole thing. I'd never really want to touch never mind accept a Spike TV Fellowship award, but the BAFTA's is something different.

It says something about 2012 that XCom, The Walking Dead, Journey and the Unfinished Swan were all picking up awards. And lots of people were obssessing over To The Moon, Katawa Shoujo and maybe even Antichamber. I don't know if it's me or the industry, but smaller budget games were much much more popular this year than they normally are. To the point where the big budget games were almost getting crowded out of the discussion.

And the big budget games for the most part, Dishonoured, Far Cry 3, Spec Ops, were really intelligent games (or trying to be). Even Mass Effect 3, despite what a lot of people feared and protested, wasn't close to a CoD. It might have been closer than the ME's, but whatever the case it was still a massive sprawling character-focused sci-fi party game with an upgrade system, which for all it's faults is still cleverer than another MMS.

Wait, but who won that award?! I'm doing a report for school!

Huh, nice results.

Be nice if it meant something though. Do the devs get a prize, or just good press?

I've answered my own question.

Carry on!

It was the cheapest PC I could find, but I only bought it about five years ago. Perhaps the sheer amount of pornography has just battered it into submission.

Much like what happens in the pronography itself, come to think of it...

Shockingly, that was also Journey. You mean you never unlocked the secret level?
