So, I don't know how many people have heard of TED talks but they're amazing and cover a whole range of topics in Technology, Entertainment, and Design. I was browsing the site today and found this cool 20 minute talk on how gaming can change the world. She uses "epic" a lot, and makes many references to World of Warcraft. It's a neat talk because she describes how the average gamer will spend 10000 hours in gaming by 21, which is roughly as many hours as you spend in school. So basically it's about what, exactly, are we learning. Also she mentions a "rule" about how if you spend 10k hours in anything you become more or less a "virtuoso" in it... so what are gamers virtuosos of?
She ends somewhat poorly with some rudimentary "world changing games" she's developed but overall it's pretty interesting so I recommend checking it out
