Here's the deal, awhile ago my PC chair broke (just happened to be I was leaning back, taking a nice refreshing drink of pepsi when the bit where the piston connects to the chair snapped and I ended up wearing more pepsi than I drank!), since then I have been sat on an unturned ottoman (floral design) with a green/brown/gold stripped couch cushion, (from a couch I no longer have) to not only stop my ass falling through where the base used to be but to also take the edge off the 4 feet digging into my bum!

Safe to say, I'm in a sorry state! My back hurts, my ass hurts, I can't game properly yadda yadda yadda.

Good news! I got some money for xmas so I am looking for a good chair! I see some streamers using these AK Racing Prime Gaming Chairs, which are nice but WAY too expensive for me!

So I was looking at

119 English pounds is still a lot to have the pleasure of sitting, which is why I came to you!

Have any other recommendations or can you approve this chair?

Before buying any gaming chair, I would suggest actually going to a store and sitting in a variety of chair types to see what is comfortable for you, then look for chairs that are built like that. Everyone has their own idea of comfort, so I would not buy a chair based on how it looks or what is comfortable for someone else. Depending on your size, build and style, what is comfortable to someone else may be absolute hell for you to sit in.

My gaming chair is actually a custom bright blue suede chaise lounge, and I could not stand to sit in a rolling chair that would make me bust my ass when I go to put my feet up like that. HAHA

Think about what is most comfortable position for you to play in, and do not limit yourself to something that is the norm. Go for the gaming chair that suits you, not try to pick a chair and just " deal with it'.

I have a gaming stool. I live in a studio apartment, so the benefit of a gaming stool is that I can push off the desk, glide across the floor doing a half spin, and slam into my fridge. I retrieve one of my bottles of rose, or perhaps a sauv-blanc. Push off again, clutch onto the desk. I've gotten pretty good at working out the prerequisite ampount of force needed to get anywhere in my apartment without having to get up.

I prefer doing it with roller stools because with a roller chair, if you spin a bit too much it's harder to catch yourself with the backpiece in the way. So that's my advice by the way. Find a mobile stool and apartment/house with no steps. No more back pain when getting up. Unless it also hurts to move your arms ... in which case I don't have any other ideas.

I've got an AK Racing chair. Not exactly the one you showed but I bet it's close enough. It is quite comfortable, to be honest -I've got no complaints. It is also sturdy. Good quality overall.

I did a lot of research before I bought my chair and so I've uncovered a secret that I will now share with you: all gaming chairs are the same. Yes. Well, almost - close enough, at least. If you look around at different gaming chairs from different companies, they all advertise the same features, they have the same sizes, they look the same. The logos and colours are different. Also there are few variations - some come in several sizes, for example but that's about it - the base components are obviously the same and the gaming chair companies get them from the same place then assemble them and add on their own flavour.

Point is, if you find the same chair cheaper from a different place, then you can get it, as it's going to be the same chair.

Other than that, feel free to look at other chairs as well. Unfortunately, I found that most computer chairs are pricey. And the cheap ones tend to suck. But occasionally you might get a promotion or something.

Lastly, I've used a soda chair in the past and I must say, it was REALLY comfortable. So you could try something that's not strictly intended for computers.

?119 isn't a lot for a good chair, it's cheap.

It's cheap for something you're going to be spending a lot of time sitting in and it's cheap compared to professional office chairs or even decent, comfortable single seater recliners from a furniture shop.

If you're going to be spending any decent amount of time setting in one, then you shouldn't try and save money by getting a cheap chair, since you're not just buying a chair, you're making an investment in your future and your future health, which you could really fuck up if you spend hours every day sat in a cheap chair with poor posture and support (which is why decent office chairs seem so expensive, except they're not really when you consider how long the user is expected to be supported by it over the years).

You don't want to find yourself in a position in the future where you can lift certain things and can't do certain types of physical work and employment because gaming marathons in a cheap chair have put your back out.

Personally, I don't even use computer or office chairs, mainly because I can't afford to spend the money required to get a decent one that won't end up making things worse considering how long I sit at my computer. Instead I've used a comfortable and supportive reclining leather sofa (and at the moment I'm using the middle section from the 3-piece sofa from that suit which I've thrown out) and adjusted desk set-up and monitor, mouse and keyboard to suit my superior sitting position.

Now is a good time to go shopping due to the sales though, especially if you expand your horizons and look at not just computer or gaming chairs, but proper single seater chairs that may offer you more support and comfort than a computer chair.

This summer when I was staying at and helping furnish another house, I needed a chair to use at my computer and got some picked up some very good chairs in some shop's ex-display section. I got a pair of really sturdy, solid oak dining chairs for ?55 each, which may have not been the most comfortable chairs after a few hours, but they were so solid and sturdy that they enforced proper posture upon you. Later I got a nice, reclining high-backed single seater lounge chair and footstool combo which was a shop's ex-display model and had ?200 slashed off the price. Again it may not have been as practice or easy to move as a computer chair, but it is a lot more comfortable and supportive than a comparable office or computer chair for a similar price.

If you don't go looking for a gaming or computer chair, but instead look in all departments and shops for a 'well made, solid chair that is going to be supporting me for hours on end while I'm using the computer and gaming', then you may be able to find a good bargain that won't also be a health hazard, although the best advice still is not to try and save money but instead spend the proper amount of money that your back, posture and general health deserves.

First, for that price it's very likely that the piston will become useless and unable to stay at one height within one year, at least that's my opinion. Bought several years ago one for about that, the piston got damaged within a year. Because I was able to return the entire chair to the shop I got another one for similar costs. Did that 3 times I think. Always the same problem.
Right now I have another chair like this, I couldn't return it entirely but I got a replacement piston. Again that was necessary within a year.

I weigh about 90kg, which is 30kg below the maximum weight that those chairs have. If you are lighter you might have better experience, but those cheap chairs are intended for people that use them only for a few hours a day.

Another thing I would recommend, because of bad experience, adjustable armrests and armrests that will leave your elbows in the air. Some nerves go right along the hard surface of your elbow and if you put continuous pressure on them, it can cause nerve damage.

tldr: Buy one for 119pounds and you will likely have to replace the chair within one or two years. Invest some more, read reviews and the chair might last for a long time.

If someone is interested, the nerve damage I talked about starts with a numb feeling in the little finger of that arm. If you stop using the armrests for a time the feeling should return, but it could become permanent.

I would recommend not grabbing that chair.

It does sound like a lot, and if nobody nearby stocks one, you're in for a nasty shipping cost too. And at the end of the day, it's an overpriced officechair with a snazzy racing finish designed to sell on look. It's just more premium "gaming" equipment, and the way that they need to spam ads for it and sell it through PC supplies has said nothing good to me about it.

I'd recommend going down to an office supply store (In Australia, our Officeworks stores stock office furniture) and trying the office chairs they have there. A high backed, stuffed chair is what you're after, so find the one that's most comfortable, that you can live with the price of. It's possible you might find something significantly better. End of the day, a chair is a chair, if it's comfortable, and feels sturdy, that's the most important thing. Gas lift and wheels may wear out, and you don't have much way of assessing that, but you should be able to assess how flimsy it feels by seeing it yourself, especially if it's in comparison to the others.

I'd recommend that if you spend any good amount of time on the computer that you save and spend on a good chair. Those chairs can last awhile, and they're rather important for comfort and your physical well-being. You don't want a chair that'll make you uncomfortable if you're going to be spending a lot of time in it, and your back will thank you.

However, if you're only on the computer occasionally, just go to a nearby office supplies store and grab a decent chair. No need to spend a lot on something you won't use.

119 English pounds is definitely NOT a lot for a chair like that if it's a high quality chair. It's not like it can become obsolete unless you do weird things in it and break it. Those things last for years if not decades. I've had mine (looks similar to that one in the picture) for almost 5 years now. It was about 200 euros (EDIT: on 30% discount I just remembered).

That is not much for a chair, so you are either getting a very good deal, or a very sketchy chair.
