Does anybody else feel that criticism on games like Resident Evil are often soften because we know what to expect? Yet because we know what to expect, doesn't matter for how long those flaws are there we continue to overlook them?
Think about it. if we tagged RE5 (or Biohazard 5 if you're from Japan) with a different title, same story, same gameplay, etc. Would it be as 'good' as people say it is? would the review value be the same?
Personally, I don't think it would. Not at all. Look at everything RE5 has that games that the general public critics hate: Terrible story, horrific voice-acting, sticky gameplay, repetitive aspects, quicktime events, and it goes on!
Do you believe there is a double standard in most games critique? Is it much harder for new franchises to come out and be as successful as the old gems?
