Hello, I am am student from Lithuania. We had to make some social research and mine is "gaming dangers" I need anyone who is not too busy gaming to fill my questionnaire ^^ which is here:

oh and I am not sure if I did right posting it here ( might have been better to post it in OFF TOPIC ) so if it's not good here I would be happy if someone move it where it belongs.

And yes - it's my first post. But really not my first visit here. Thanks to ZP and Unskippable I am reading forums while videos are loading but i don't really see point in discussing ( sharing MY and only MY personal opinion ) I haven't posted anything till now. So HELLO!

Revelo - 7th question well yes it has too few options, but Bible is in place - games are bloody so they make you "violent", Bible is bloody too it might affect some people . and yes this question is half joke.

Listen, I'm not trying to be mean, but this is a really badly designed survey. Here are some suggestions:

-The bins you've set up for "age" aren't going to be very useful in your data analysis. In a survey like this, I think you're going to find a much bigger difference between 16 and 21 year olds than you will between 30 and 31 year olds.
-There are a lot of leading questions and answers in this survey - number 5 is definitely the worst example, but 7 and 15 are pretty heinous, too.
-There are a lot of answers that aren't logically exhaustive. I don't think that video games cause violence, but I also don't agree that the effect depends on the player or does not exist at all. Questions 9, 12, and 15 are pretty bad for this, too.
-Question 7 is extremely leading and doesn't really make any sense. What are you even trying to prove with this question? The answers are pretty far from logically exhaustive and I really don't think this could give you any useful data no matter how you re-worded it.
-Question 11 is really unclear. I'm not sure whether it's asking me whether playing games have advantages or disadvantages that haven't been covered yet in the survey, or whether games are overall a more positive or negative force.

Basically, I can't fill out this survey because it doesn't have room for me to leave my opinions. One more recommendation I would make is to use likert scales and ask people if they agree with statements such as "violent games make players violent" or "violent games can sometimes make players violent, but it depends solely on the player."

Good morning blues - thanks for criticism. Leading questions? Didn't got what it means but if it's " question that shows "right" answer" then there is none. especially question 5 as there is no right answer ( though i guess it had to be like "Can video games improve your vision, reaction and thinking skills?" ). Question 11 ( according to answers ) was very clear to other participants. As for "I don't think that video games cause violence, but I also don't agree that the effect depends on the player or does not exist at all" there is psychologist who says that games causes violence and as for me I think it's players weak mind might make him violent after shooting some zombies so I only want to see others opinions. But yes it's bad survey. Rely sorry for that, my only excuse is that education in Lithuania is INSANE and I haven't given enough time to this survey ( quantum physics ate too much time I guess :/ )



Seems I have half of minimum amount of answers I need. It's more interesting to read open question answers than I expected ^^

Well i must than everyone that participated as I already have minimal answers needed. It was interesting reading answers to open questions ^^ most interesting of them ( well i hope all of which is answered correctly as there is few nonsense answers ) will get to my report. my survey will be open for several more days so if anyone will want to participate you are welcome.


As for answers. I know my English is FAR from perfect or even good. But one answer interested me it was answer to "What's the best way to heal game addicts?" answer was - "Leave them alone, and don't pester them with poorly written surveys. Really now, please spell check and use better grammar. " Well... as for "Leave them alone, and don't pester them with poorly written surveys." I don't pester anyone it's only survey. And for "please spell check and use better grammar." please anyone point where is grammar/spelling mistakes ( I don't say there is none. I am interested where they are as even me English lecturer noticed none) and that with "Holly" was noticed already.....
