Alot of games these days feature scantily clad women(and sometimes men) for no real need to be there, the role could have equally had been played by some grizzled old veteran or something. But they are there to be looked at and drooled on, no game is more guilty of this that Command and Conquer Red Alert 3, for pretty much every mission your given, the opertive is extremely attractiive, as are the 2 field operative tanya and natasha and if you dont believe me

it has it's place and in most cases... it's just overdone. Heck the study's have showed at least men aren't shallow either. Females who are modestly done, like Alyx from half life, Zoey from Left 4 dead, Cortana from halo etc. They aren't exactly out there showing their bust/butt, but they are extremely popular characters. Females who aren't there for their sex appeal tend to have the better written stories/backgrounds/personalities.

I'm not quite sure why, but for whatever reason, if there's a game with scantly clad women, I tend to ignore it. Probably Mass Effect 2 was the exception only because I had played mass effect 1. I tend to write those games as badly written and poorly constructed. *shrugs*

Yeah, it's kind of stupid, but then again, all media does it. A movie for instance doesn't sell unless there's either an excess of explosions or violence, or it has female/male eye candy or sex scenes in it. In terms of video gaming, I think that a lot of the characters have become stereotypically sexualized. Men are usually young and handsome, and the ladies are model thin with large breasts and barely any clothes on, or clothes so tight they may as well have been painted on. This sort of hyper sexualization of video game characters doesn't really paint our culture in a positive light does it? And the "booth babes" at conventions don't help either.

I really wish there were more open world sandbox games where you can either fly limitlessly, or pilot something that can. If anything, that should be the eye candy rather than some scantly clad idiot with double D's trying to be a serious character, or some muscle head douche bag spouting stupid one-liners and killing everything that looks at him funny.
