I'm not sure how I could have labeled the title better, but I'm going to try and get my idea across here.

While I'm not talking about actual in-game scares (such as an enemy/monster popping up behind you and scaring your pants off) or phobias(spiders, water levels, etc.), I'm talking more along the line of technical fears..

Times, when you are playing one of your favourite games, and the lights have been flickering because of the huge storm outside, and you are trying to push on as hard as you can to just make it to that save point, so that you don't lose all your progress, or moments when you think the game is bugging up on your or glitching, causing you to panic, with the final terror of the save game files corrupting on you.

So ya, what are some of your technical gaming fears???

I have 2, for the most part.

1)I'm afraid of losing my save data for my one game that I have, and it has almost happened once or twice so far.

2)I'm afraid of one/some of the keys on my keyboard breaking off because of the intense button pressing/combos that the same game needs...that and it's on my laptop, so its not as easy as just going and buying a new keyboard.

I have a fear, due to personal experience, of the game freezing in loading menus. It's happened a few times to me, and while most of the times were just minor annoyances it happened one time with disastrous results.

I was trying to get the 7 day survivor achievement in Dead Rising, and I made it to 6 days and 22 hours when the game froze switching plazas. I'm still trying to pry the controller out of my TV.

Bluescreens and powercuts are my 2 biggest fears for obvious reasons. The amount of lost gaming to those 2 is... I dont even want to know.

And ever since my xbox red ringed im petrifited it will do so again whenever the frame rate drops or i see a texture glitch or something. I'm just constantly paranoid and on the look out for it.

i have that fear too and if possible i will have multiple saves. like recently i was playing Dawn of war and i would have merk1 merk2 merk3 merkinprog so 4 saves. first 3 i cycle through so saving on the oldest one each turn in the game and merkinprog was for when i was in the middle of a battle.

OCD much :)

I'm afraid that my game may become corrupted, making me unable to play the game without buying it again.

See, I can't stand having multiple saves at all. I like having all my data nice and neat in one spot, especially if you can't go and delete old save files. I don't know why, it's just a pet peeve of mine. =S

I'm always afraid of getting autosaved in a crappy spot where the moment I load I instantly die, and then having to go back to a previous save. This happened to me in Killzone 3 the other day, but I managed to get out of the instant death scenario with some quick reflexes after the 4th try without needing to reload the previous checkpoint.

-PS3 overheating (Mine has been fine, but I've heard so many HORROR stories)
-Losing saved data
-Getting stuck in a glitch halfway through a level and be unable to get out without restarting.

Every now and then my copy of the original Deus Ex would produce a corrupt quicksave file.

Which was kind of a problem since I almost never used regular saves.

Worrying about my generic memory card corrupting on my Gamecube, which held saved data to my Resident Evil 4 profile that had 64 Professional mode completions and everything unlocked.

I fear coffee spills. I spilled an entire cup of coffee on my laptop that I'm typing this up on now. I instantly took out the battery and turned it upside down. Left it like that for two days before even trying to turn it on again. That saved it, except the cd drive which I never use and my "c" key which I can get by by copying a c from somewhere then pasting when necessary.

But I'm very absent-minded and will leave my cup somewhere stupid.
I'm slightly clumsy and will knock over that cup.
Good thing I drink it with no cream and no sugar.

In WoW, I always dread the return of my old nemesis... Dr. Lag. He always knows when to strike too, He always bides his time while I'm a dps or questing and comes at me full force when I'm tanking or healing. CURSE YOU DR. LAG!!!

This just happened to me in Invisible War. I picked it up in the Square Enix sale through steam, and having never played it before wanted to see what all the hate was about.

Was actually enjoying it quite a bit, got to about 80% of the way through, used quicksave before dropping through a vent, died at the bottom of the vent, and now whenever I try to load the game it crashes back to desktop immediately.

Last real save? About 4 hours of game time ago.

I always am kind of wary when I play Tales of the Abyss because of how slow things load and what not, that it's just waiting to freeze up or something. Also a general fear when playing Tales games is that I'll accidentally delete my cool ex file on accident. This is a fear in most games for me but Tales games save system has kinda screwed me over when I'm not paying attention.

Worrying that applications in the background (PC) are plotting to crash my game. Also, worrying that ill hit quick load instead of quick save.

"Data has been corrupted. You need to format your save data"

When I see it the first time, I think "Uh oh... better restart it". Shut it off, leave it a few minutes.
When I see it the second time, I think "This isn't good... but maybe it's ACTUALLY corrupted."
Third time? FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Most of the time it only lasts until the first time after waiting a few minutes.
