Morrowind of all things!
I remember first seeming on the shelf and though it looked cool but never got it. Then, one day when I was about to leave the BX I just grabbed it and bought it.

Never regretted that snap decision ^^

Mr. BlackEyes over there forced me to play Mass Effect 2, and I was like "woah" and he was like "yup, told ya" and then he was like "play Persona 4" and I was like "woah" and he was like "yeah, Inorite?"

Long story short, keep up the suggestions, dood.

Morrowind.

I've had the GOTY edition I picked up for like $10 somewhere around forever ago, but I must have tried 5 or 10 times to get into it and I never could. Recently I finally managed to play through it mostly, though I still haven't really started the main quest.

I still don't think it's half as good as it's blind fanboys do, but it was still a pretty good game.

I probably wouldn't have played Fallout 3 if not for a good friend raving on about it and insisting I get it. I don't regret it for a second. :D

best 35 bucks ever spent (got the game of the year edition)

This happens to me a lot, I used to go into a Gamestop with $50 and buy as many used games as I could.

Morrowind? The graphics are horrible(yeah I was shallow about things like that at one time), how good could it be.

Gladius? What the hell is that? A Lucas Arts game that isn't Star Wars?

Final Fantasy X? Ugh, JRPG's. FF7 left a bad taste in my mouth.

Summoner 2? Never heard of it, the box is pretty though and it's only $5.

Mass Effect and Fallout 3 are some big ones of this generation. Resident Evil Remake on the GC is a big one too. OH and Shadow of the Colossus as well.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends and Shadow of the Colossus. I don't know why I bought either of them, but I'm glad I did. I just saw them on the shelf and thought, "Ooh, must have."

I almost passed up this game:

I went to blockbuster to rent a Harry Potter game (dont judge me) and I picked this one up because I had an extra free rental. Lets just say HP sat in its case while I fell in love with the force.

Chrono Trigger, It was one of those classics you say you'll get around to but never really do...
Just browsing Best Buy, I come across the DS version in the bargain bin for 10 bucks.
I'm so glad I didn't just bust out the emulator this time

I'd heard non-stop amazing things about Planescape: Torment, but figured it was a lost cause actually finding a copy of the game. I noticed a while ago that Good Old Games had it, but I didn't have a credit card, so that was moot. Then, a few months later, I got that evil little plastic rectangle, and remembered Torment.

OH GOD I'M SO GLAD I BOUGHT IT MY LIFE IS INFINITELY BETTER

Also Timesplitters 2, I got that game when I got my Xbox and also Halo CE, Hitman 2 and Splinter Cell. I tried TS2 first but I got confused by the controls so I tried the other games, they were all good and only after a year I tried Timesplitters again. So many hours wasted in the Arcade mode lol.
I absolutely loved Timesplitters 2! It's probably one of my favorite games.

Another game I thankfully tried was Conflict Desert Storm II: Back to Baghdad. Despite the mediocre reviews, I thought this game was extremely fun to play. The fun lies in the nature of the co-op play. If you enjoy Team Fortress 2, I highly recommend checking this game out. You have a sniper, a medic/engineer, an anti-tank guy, and a general assault guy, so if you can get 3 other friends to play with you it's really cool to be able to strategize who will do what, when in order to complete the mission.

Sadly, most of my game purchases have been on whims when I'm looking for something to play. Either through looking interesting on the shelf or through me hearing mutterings of it's awesomeness.

Metal Gear, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Bioshock, Dead Space, Bad Company...

Even non-blockbuster titles like Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (which led me to buy Borderlands when I realised they were both Gearbox games) and The Darkness (which is hands-down fucking fantastic) were bought on a whim in the pre-owned section. *hides from game developers*

I nearly didn't play Portal of Halflife 2, and I wouldn't have if my friend didn't show up one day with the orange box. I bought them both a few days later.

I was ashamed to say that I almost didn't play BioShock, but seems like more people than I initially thought haven't played something "important."

Dragon Age. I hated Mass Effect and when I heard DA would be like it "but fantasy" I almost didn't buy it. I'm glad I eventually got it though, decent game.
You hated ME? Sucks for you. I love ME and ME2 so I almost never played DAO, but the guys on the Bioware social site encouraged me to play DA), so I did, and it was awsome.

Now looking forward to DA2!

I'm going to go with the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games. Had I not won them in a contest I likely would have gone through last year with no knowledge of the incredible games I would be missing out on.

Total War series. My mate at uni used to go on about it all the time. Then Rome, Med2 and Empire were in a steam sale for like £14 and he wouldn't shut up till I bought it.
Never looked back :)
