Whatever the game I always listen to chiptunes. 8/16 bit music just soothes me. I also discovered that I play better with music playing then without it. Atleast in TF2.

If a game has a bad enough soundtrack, probably just chuck on some of The Mars Volta's stuff. Dream Theatre are pretty fun to play to as well.

with some games i put on internet radio and mute the ingame music (but only if there is hardly any music/good music).

The only time I listen to something else is Fallout.

I got the 'iPip' mod, and put I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire on all the slots

Love that song.

While playing competetively I listen to metal genres like heavy, thrash and black. When I play single player I prefer the game's soundtrack. It's better for immersion.

altho ive grown an appeal for techno in games, if it actually sounds good, like NMH´s Bad Girl Theme, Pleather For Breakfast.
