hey guys and gals,

im getting a mac in the next week for my work and i know some games are on mac and mac also now has steam (not with many games buy hey). but i do know you can run windows on a mac. so i ask if i install windows on a portion of my mac (imac) can it play windows games or does the hardware say no?

Buy Escape Velocity. Well, actually, buy Escape Velocity Nova, but then you can get the free plug-in that turns it into the original, which was the best one of the series.

Your hardware should be fine with it if your mac is Intel driven. If it's PowerPC you'd need to run an emulator, which can be slow. If it's Intel though, I would suggest trying Wine first, it runs well with a lot of Windows games and it runs directly from your mac, no rebooting into Windows needed.

You absolutely can. The hardware will work fine, just make sure it's up to specs with what you want. I have a Windows partition on my beloved Macbook, and it works perfectly well.

But still get Steam for Mac and such. It's much better to be able to play the games on the system's home platform, if only because, in my opinion, OSX is the superior operating system by far.

If you have an intel based mac you can use Bootcamp to install and run a copy of windows.
