The old republic is only 2 months away and when it comes out, I want to be able to play it comfortably. I want to be able to get really immersed in my Sith Juggernaut without a low framerate distracting me. At the moment Im using a PC from about 2006, its a bit dated now and doesn't like playing new games. So far i've only really used it for WoW and TF2, so upgrading hasn't been a large concern until now.

Just to get this out of the way: I know very little about hardware. I don't understand why my PC works, I just know that it does and how to use it. I want to upgrade but I don't really know where to look, or what to look for. I was wondering if there's anyone here who could help me find a new PC?

Just to clarify: I'm not looking for a machine that can run any game on maximum graphics with 200 frames per second and can launch nukes by pressing CTRL+N. I just want a system capable of running SWTOR smoothly on about medium settings. If it can run on high settings then great! But I'm looking to spend £300 - £400 on this.

These are the speccs for SWTOR:
What are the system requirements for the game?
Processor:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or better
Operating System:
Windows XP or later
RAM:

Windows XP: 1.5GB RAM
Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB RAM
Note: PCs using a built-in graphical chipset are recommended to have 2GB of RAM.

Star Wars: The Old Republic requires a video card that has a minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM as well as support for Shader 3.0 or better. Examples include:

ATI X1800 or better
nVidia 7800 or better
Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better
DVD-ROM drive ? 8x speed or better (required for installation from physical editions only) Internet connection required to play.

Oh and one other thing, I am NOT looking to build my own PC. It would take too long and I'd probably end up setting it on fire or blowing it up. I'd rather just buy a premade.

Thanks to anyone who suggests something, In threads like these i normally dont get to thank everyone! :)

If you're not interested in playing other PC games then you'll get away with a laptop, TOR's system specs are very easy-going.

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops/703_7006_70006_xx_xx/299-499-criteria.html

Pretty much anything on here should run it just fine.

the specs listed are meet by high/med end computers from 5+years ago

you should be fine if not find a video card you like in your price range and maybe some RAM if you have slots open at most its $300 if you feel like splurging on it
