Gaming Rig Recommendation

Hello all,

I have decided to upgrade my PC to something better which can run games like Far Cry 3 at full settings with no lagging or running out of memory. So I am looking for advice on a gaming rig as to what the best components would be for this. I'm looking somewhere in the price bracket of £1000 to £1500 so an nVidia GTX 690 doesn't seem like a viable option at the moment.

You could build a real beast of a rig with that kind of budget.

Here's what I would get (note I'm going to assume a budget of 1250 pounds which converts to around $2000 Australian dollars, all my prices will be in AUD).

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K $229

GPU: EVGA GTX 670 2GB $430

Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme6 Motherboard $160

Power Supply: Corsair HX-750 V2 80 PLUS Gold $200

CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler $35

RAM: Corsair Vengeance CML8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 $55

Case: Corsair Obsidian 650D $190

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB $95

SSD: Intel 520 Series 180GB SSD $195

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium OEM 64bit $95

Total: 1700 Aus dollars or 1100 pounds.

As you can see there is still plenty of room left in the budget. That build will max most every game. If you want more graphical power you could just add another GTX 670

Yeah what he said. Just in case you get screwed on English prices you could cut the PSU back to a lower 650w model without problem, go for a cheaper SSD (Crucial m4 128Gb or Samsung 840), or swap the GPU out for a 7850 2Gb.
