After playing the first two silent hills and recalling how scary I found them when I first played them I decided I'd let the guy I live with try them out. And after 2 hours of watching him galavant around with absolutely no rhyme or reason, I realized his major problem. He has no goddamn sense for gaming.

Have you ever run into this? Someone who just doesn't understand enough about games to play them well? Is it as heart-wrenching for you to watch them complain about finding some health when the only place on the map they haven't been to is the place marked as 'infirmary'? Who raised these kids? Can I destroy him? Please?

You may.

I know what you mean. The only thing worse than watching someone suck at a particular game is watching someone with the inability to play games overall

I think you have to start them off slow, y'know? I'm slowly weaning my girlfriend off of the Sims and onto Soul Calibur, and I just bought her a Spyro game for Christmas. Once she gets the hang of some linear platformers, I'll see if I can't weasel her into a more complicated genre.

Thus are gamers made.

Well, you can't ask a kid who's shot a BB gun once or twice to field-strip an AR-15. Gaming is a process, and while some have a knack for it, I bet most had to start early to be really good.

Ouch, some of us are terrible at videogames, we don't WANT this curse. My people have been hated on since the early nineties. I for one can only pray for an "easy" difficulty.

My sister is the worst with gaming sense. She picks up my Simpsons Hit and Run game, and crashes the car. Not like, in a funny way, like a huge pileup or something, but just rams it into a house, and crashes it over and over again, without really moving. It's unbearable.

I thought that evry one who starts a new game is like that I know for a fact that when I start to play a new game I am rubbish not knowing what to do or anything. but I reckon that given time he will get the hang of the game.

I know exactly what you mean. I just don't understand why some people look away from important things going on onscreen, or just lack any general common sense while playing a game.

I think, like mentioned above, this "gamer sense" comes with time. Personally, I pretty much have a natural ability when it comes to any game. I don't usually find myself completely baffled or terrible at a new game that I pick up, because the mental muscle memory is there.

Dude, Let him play. Needs to get used to controls, Explore. Just you know everything about the game, give the guy a chance to experience it all for himself!
