Garry's mod 9

I recently downloaded Garry's mod 9 but I cant seem to get it working. It says I need HL2 and HL2 DM both of which I have and can run perfectly on my machine. Can anybody tell me what's going on?
EDIT: I also got Portal and both of the HL2 EPs; do I need any other Source Games?

Unfortunately, GMOD9 is insanely old and isn't up to date. You're pretty much limited to shelling out the 10 bucks for GMOD10 as 9 no longer works with the current version of source.

Oh god damn it. Only possible way for me to get Gmod is to buy it? that would be fine and dandy but I dont got a credit card. FML. So now the only way I can get it is if I have it gifted to me.
