I hope there is actually character creation in this next game, I want to make a cross between a mordecai and a rowen (forgive me if they are not their names). Not really psyched about this game though, needs more hype

If they make the single player less of a slog this time, I'm all for it. :)

More Borderlands sounds good to me... Well, not Moxxi's Underdome or Crawmerax. But the rest of it, yes please.

"A customer promise should not be made until that promise becomes sufficiently clear and ready and the commitment is there to deliver upon the promise."
Now if only other developers felt this way... *coughcapcomcough* Oh excuse me.
You realize that Borderlands 2 can easily go the way of Megaman Legends 3 right now, right? This is as far from an official confirmation as you can get. It's more like: "We might agree to look at the possibility of maybe researching possible development of designing an early build of a game that we could make. Maybe."

I'm pretty sure we can look forward to a sequel, but I wouldn't count on it until Gearbox states that they are working on it.

What do you mean? A gun can have up to about 8-12 special abillities but they only show you the first four, so you have to guess which guns are better.
Woah really? My mistake then. I thought they only had up to 4 abilities.

I thought we already knew this when they applied to copyright the name "Borderworlds".
I myself am looking forward to more of what I get from borderlands,
although in the end I did just create myself the best possible guns in the game :-/

Sigh. The specific quote mentioned in this article is actually three months old (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-04-21-gearbox-dismisses-borderlands-2-talk). Eurogamer just reposted it when they reported on the new rumors.

And of course now there's an ACTUAL official announcement of a sequel.

Nice job, Escapist.

Let me get this straight: they're saying "hey, don't get all worked up making assumptions and reading too much into things", so you wrote an article doing exactly that?
He's a journalist. That's his job.

I follow Randy Pitchford on twitter, and he made a post about this yesterday. I believe the exact quote was "Shoddy journalism does not equal an announcement...". Randy has been sayign for a while that they WOULD do more in the Borderlands universe, but I will just chalk this one up to a slow newsweek (in general, not just the escapist).

More classes and make it more complex and all of my money
I'm all for more classes but they have to make sure that they are just as different as the others. One of the great things about that game's re-playability is that it almost felt like a completely different game depending on what class you used.
It's one of the reasons I still play the damn game.
The same goes for weapon types: I'm all for more as long as they're really different. I'd like to see a minigun in that game.

The worst possible plan they can execute would be halt production of every other game and try to give Duke back his glory. Also known as "The Sega Plan".

So they might be working on this... Well my "awesome meter" just hit 11.

And for some reason it won't link properly.

I see what you did there :)
I hated how you had to do all the other quests before the main ones if you wanted any hope of standing a chance (alone) ... or maybe I just suck at the game.

Just make the story a helluva lot better and make guns fully customizable, and I'll be happy.

Unofficially confirmed?

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/08/03/september-cover-revealed_3a00_-borderlands-2-75830-3458572.aspx

I'd say this is pretty official!

Borderlands looks quite fun, but I have not tried it as of yet. Maybe I should now!

That is pretty much my biggest complaint about Borderlands, as well (NB: I'm going through it for the 5th time now on a fresh Lilith after maxing out Mordecai, so it's not an "I hate that game" level complaint). The difficulty curve is kind of all over the map, and the DLCs[0] only make it worse. Even without level grinding, by the time you finish all 3 DLCs[0], you're so overleveled that other than the SDU, the rewards are vendor trash.

Back to farming rebel Claptrap parts for psycho-woman... ciao.

[0]I don't care what anyone says, the only thing in the Moxxi DLC is the bank!

Borderlands was awesome. I have a friend who's still playing it, he's up to something like 30 max level characters. I hope they mesh action and story again -- I just have a hard time restarting it now for the slow wind-up.
