So, my buddy gets his copy of Gears of War 2 and puts it in the drive... it comes up and the menus are all in Slovenian! When he plays, it's in English but the subtitles are in Slovenian. He can't do much (multiplayer and Horde are especially hard) because he can't read anything.

He got it from Gamestop and the box is all in English. There is nothing wrong with the disc. We even tested that by running my perfect copy on his Xbox and it showed up in Slovenian too. We have no idea what to do!

Now, we live in Brazil (our games are imported) and we're wondering if there's a solution to this. We'd have called Microsoft but they kind of don't have any real Xbox support.

So, I pose this question: do you have any solutions? We've tried changing settings and this is like the third forum I've been to asking and NOBODY shares our plight. Does anybody have the same problem at least?

either it has something to do with your xbox or thier was a problem with packaging. check your xbox first then if nothing is wrong exchange it again

Well, if it did come from gamestop (not surprised, most bad crap comes from their arses) Then you might want to ring them up. Failing that, you could set the language in the main menu screen (that is, if you can, I have no idea if that will work). Failing that, you could go and find a new one if it is last resort.

If your copy plays in english on yours but in slovakian on his then the issue is with the machine not the disk
Get him to not only check language settings but country of origin and time zone.

I am guessing that something in the system settings is bringing up a flag saying I am slovakian.

Other games may be fine because they didnt have a slovakian language so defaulted back to English
