Oh, so the game looks polished already and it's nearly ready? Good, it should be out soo- OH WAIT! September was it? C'moon Epic!

"Epic hopes it can still benefit from additional time in development." my ass. They are just holding it back for marketing window. When they are holding the game for this long it better be good and have no online problems. Atleast they are giving us a beta, i appreciate that.
second ^^

its EA man get used to it.

Multiplayer sounds much more team based than the the previous games with some of these new additions, rather than just a bunch of people gettin' together in one game and goin' all out.
thats what was fun about the first game, they ruined that in the second game.

people dont tend to favour team based games, unless they play with clans and such, why do u think call of duty is so popular, because u can go commando on everyones arse, if u give people a game that only really works when u work together, they wont play it religeously, unless they are truly badass
I can definitely see your point, but even so, I can't help but feel that a team based strategy style is most appropriate for a game like Gears of War.

In Gears, there are gameplay mechanics that simply benefit a team based style game. You've got cover-based combat and the ability to revive your allies. Both of which add a huge amount of depth to the game. Whereas in CoD, a team's strategy is much simpler because it lacks a number of the mechanics that Gears has, leading to a much more individualistic free-for-all game.

I'm not saying that CoD lacks depth or strategy, or that Gears of War has a better multiplayer! I'm not! All's I'm sayin' is that, to me, it seems that the Gears franchise features gameplay mechanics that favor a team-based strategy type of game; moreso than say Call of Duty. And that's why I'm pretty excited for the Gears of War 3 multiplayer!

thats a fair few points right there.

i just want to say that gears 2 was a bit of a failure in the balance between team work and rambo style players, however it looks as though they are fixing this :)

EDIT quote fail :(
