I think the title will draw in those that understand the topic of discussion. I'm interested: which do you consider the better game/series and why might that be?

What do you know of the connections? and what do you think about the possible future of the Xeno series.

XenoGears was fucking fantastic. That game stands out as one of the most amazing RPG's ever.

XenoSaga was an interesting story with very medicore gameplay and mechanics. IT was a fun enough game, but it didn't have the same quality. I found it extremely hard to slog through it and the end unsatisfied me. It wasn't worth the 300 hour, 3 game odyssey.

Xenoblade Chronicles? Is that even related? I am not even convinced Saga and Gears were related. Hell the only thing they had in common was mechs.

Are you sure Xeno isn't just a Japanese Genre meaning mech?

Quite possibly, but story connection or not, there is a connection in the production and I'm curious as to peoples favourite(s)

Gears and Saga though? I suggest you look it up.

I don't know. I was just guessing
Think of the Xeno series in the same way as Final Fantasy.

You know how any indivual numbered installment of Final Fantasy can have sequels, but no numbered game is related to any other number? So, FFX-2 is a sequel to FFX, but FFX is not a sequel to FFIX, and neither is FFIX to, say FFV. Every numbered game takes place in a new setting unrelated to previous games, with new characters, new story and so on. But they are still convidered part of the same series because they were made by the same people with common base mechanics, themes, style and such[footnote]Although with many of the original creators gone or moved on, and the games themselves deviating further from its roots with every installment, any new game being called Final Fantasy is arguably more and more about brand name recognition than similarities in mechanics and aesthetics[/footnote].

Xeno is pretty much the same. Each installment is unrelated to any other, but they were created by the same people with common themes, gameplay aspects, ...

That makes sense. Except for Xenogears, I haven't seen or played a xeno game in over a decade.
Oh my god, use the damn quote button when you talk to people. It's right there, it's not hard.

No wonder this thread died so fast.
my friend, why you complaining about quote system in every thread?

There's nothing rude about it at all.
I'm inclined to disagree as responding to someone without using the quote system and expecting them to check the thread to see if you did so is a bit rude. And of course if the thread is really busy and there have been several posts between their post and yours it can be very confusing as to whom you are responding to. Plus it is just one simple button press to use so I don't see why you wouldn't use it.

From what I heard there is or originally was no relation but they decided to add the Xeno tag to it later as a sort of mark of respect to the director since he had so much impact over the shape of the game sorta marking it as his game but not as directly as slapping his name on the box (he was instrumental in creating Xenogears and Xenosaga previous).

I cant verify if this is true or not and having not played Xenogears and only episode 2 of Xenosaga (only one released over here) I dont have much personal data to go on. The only way I can see it might be tied in is very loosely because of the way Xenoblade ended, cant say I noticed many similarities between ep.2 and Xenoblade Chronicles in any way that would suggest they are strongly tied.

As for between Gears and Saga I have no idea.

As for which one is better between Gears and Saga I am afraid I do not have enough experience to say.

Series future in regards to Gears and Saga? er probably none tbh but another game with Xeno in the title made by the same guy I think there will be more to come.

I don't get it, how else are you going to know? I always frequently check back on threads where I've entered a conversation.

When someone quotes you, you automatically receive a notification in your message inbox. Its shows whatever the person who quoted you said in response and a link back to the thread in which you were quoted.

Looking at your join date, you are probably new here and may not know this system exists. But to people who have been here a while (or a long while in my case), it seems very obvious to quote someone to let them know you responded to them. It also makes it easy for them see who quoted them and in which thread, without having to keep track of when and where you posted something.

Quoting is a courtesy. It's considered good manners on the Escapist forums.

Hmm, you are correct, I wasnt aware of that system, but I do see it now. I must say though, as a member of GT for over 10 years, I never had anyone bring up the matter, let alone call it rude, despite it being extremely common. Let us drop it though, just as long as you know though that there is certainly no intent to be in any way rude. To me its just obvious im responding to you above and see little need to quote.
