It has come to my attention that being known as a geek or nerd has massively different consequences in different countries. Here in the UK, being a geek is fairly normal. Practically everyone I know, girls included, play video games, and not just fb ones.
Most watch Star trek, all love Harry Potter, and at least a few watch anime. And in case you think that just descibes the people I know, there are about 50 pupils in my sixth-form. 45 of them have taken at least one science for A-level, 8 of them took Maths, and 25 of them took IT.
Here that is normal.
However, from what I have heard, geeks/nerds in America have it much harder, to the point of being social pariahs.
So, what is it like being a geek in your country?
