I've been looking to upgrade for a while, and the Geforce 450 caught my eye for it's relatively low price point, and from what I see, high performance, AND(this one's most important to me)a low PSU requirement(400W). What I want to know, is how will this run the latest Total War games, Left 4 Dead, crysis warhead, Team Fortress 2, and STALKER, compared to my current Geforce 210.

There you got a lot of tests on 450 ( It's on swedish tho ) so on 1680x1050 resolution on Enthusiast settings and 2xAA you will have 12-17fps in dx10 crysis warhead.

I couldnt find a test on 210 but I would really recommend 460 instead of 450 or if you really need low watt gpu I would go with Gtx 550Ti

Gtx 550Ti
http://www.sweclockers.com/recension/13657-nvidia-geforce-gtx-550-ti/7#pagehead

It's on 1920x1080resolution and highest settings with 4xAA
And on that test (with higher resolution) 450 has 9-14 fps compared to 12-17 fps that 550 got

Yes, but the thing is that the 460 requires much more power(requiring me to get a better PSU, which costs more $$$$), and it's more expensive. I can live with running it on medium.

Okey, edited a bit on my post and Gtx 550Ti has the recommended psu on 400watt and its a bit more powerful but also cost a bit more tho

Also, my monitor can only support up to 1280 by 1024, so how much of a performance difference would there be if you lowered the rez of the above test?

Well here is a test that show crysis on 1280x1024 2xAA and there they got 30 fps
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_GTX_550_Ti_Amp_Edition/12.html

Couldn't find a test on the 450 tho.. but Sweclockers says that they found around 25% more performance in Gtx 550 then 450. May I ask what kind of cpu you got?

Oh darn, when I bumped it, you responded :)
I have a quad core 2.2 AMD Phenom 9550, and from what I hear it isn't all that bad, and that it should be good for the games I have listed above.

oh damn Im really not good with amd cpus but I googled a bit and it appears to be decent enough

But I would really recommend 550ti to you, it's quite new and doesnt cost so much more ( At least in Sweden) and it seems to be a decent increase in performance.

Actually found another card.

Radeon HD 5670: Recommended watt is 400

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/01/14/amds_ati_radeon_hd_5670_review/4

And its a lot cheaper then 550

-edit-
Hmm dunno how much of improvement it would actually be.. So I would still recommend 550Ti tho..

Maybe when I have a bit more money, or if they have it at best buy tomorrow.
EDIT: I could buy the 450 and overclock it up to 550 ti levels. I overclocked my geforce 210 with satisfying results.

I don't have the money, and it's 40 bucks more expensive, so I think I'll hold off.

Phenom 9550? Revision model of the 9500 to tackle an issue all the 1st gen Phenoms had. Decent little unit for a 1st gen quaddie. Certainly won't bottleneck a midrange system.

Actually used to have a Phenom 9500... not bad but seconardy processing cores tended to drop the ball during high loads on a 64bit OS, resulting in BSOD. Work like a charm in 32 bit, though.

I have a 64 bit system, what the difference and should I change my system?

How exactly should my processor be performing? I suffer on Mount and Blade with any more than 40 soldiers, and I get low fps on TF2 on lowest settings, when I used to get 80 fps during gameplay.

Rewind... What changes have you made to the system between 80fps on TF2 and choking on low settings now?

Also, define 'suffer' for M&B. Massive FPS drop?

Still sounds like the bottleneck would either be the GPU or a lack of RAM rather than the CPU. I could play the games you listed at medium to high settings using a Phenom 9500 but that system also has 4Gb RAM and 2 HD3870s in CF.

Nothing, just one day, it started lagging and so did most of my games. Multicore rendering doesn't seem to change much, except turning it off makes it even worse.

Strange. Either something has started taking up a shitload of your system resources or one of your major components is shitting itself.

I'd run a comprehensive anti-virus, anti-malware scan (as well as a registry clean up) and see if there was something there doing something it shouldn't. Failing that I'd go for a full windows reinstall with a complete reformat (not a quick reformat).

I ran multiple anti-virus scans, malware scans, and I have reformatted it. After I reformatted it, I did get a bit more fps.*About 40% more on my games* Recently, around 3-4 weeks ago, for two days, my fps came back on TF2, and it was back to dominating my opponents. I had above 50 during heavy combat, and 130 in the spawn room. I did nothing new, it just happened by itself. Then it left :(
