I am excited, and its a good thing I have Dish Network DVR to record these episodes because I don't think I can stay up to midnight and sleep at 12:30 every day.

Hopefully this show is will be the apology to the disappointment that was Samurai Jack Season 5.

I thought season 5 of Jack had some really great visuals. The scene with all the dark sisters fighting jack in the snow really stands out.

Episodes 2 and 3 were the best part of the season. It went sorta down hill in Episode 4 and just plummeted in 5 and onward.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Wait, what do you mean season 5 of Jack being a disappointment? Sure the first episodes were the strongest but none of it was bad.

My initial reactions to how the season played out can be found in the very thread I made, and you can see how much the season deteriorated for me:

It was badly paced overall though. The first few episodes take it very slow to focus on Jack surviving against the Daughters, then it speeds across Ashi seeing the light, Jack becoming lost, Jack and Ashi starting a romance and Aku's defeat, in the span of about 6 episodes.

So far Caveman and T-Rex > Jack and Ashi.

No dialogue, no thanks. I liked Samurai Jack, but I wasnt blowing my load over the fights the way everyone else apparently was. I need context for me to enjoy fight scenes, and that usually requires people talking.

Oh man, your gonna get context in this first episode alone.

I have no interest in what? 2 hours of just fight scenes?

Oh man, I never liked Samurai Jack and thought the art-style was somehow terrible and cringeworthy in a sort of weird satirical imitation sense but this looks nice actually. Not much into american-made animation outside of southpark since it's either comedic or overly childish but this looks to be neither so it deserves a shot at least.

Did they say it was just going to be two hours of fight scenes? Because I just watched a clip that showed a hunt.

Fiction that tries to tell a story without too much or any dialoge can sometimes create something unique because it forces the storytellers to think outside of the box and lean very heavily on show-don't-tell. And Genndy Tartakovsky's strength has always lied more on the visual side of things, so it'd be interesting to see how he does when he focuses all his talent on just that. And the setting he choose for that seems perfect.

I loved Angel's Egg and that was an hour and a half of silent bizzaro fairy-tale. It definitely can be done right.

I am just expressing that I wont like this. I am not calling for a boycott or anything, but while the fights in Samurai Jack were neat, I would not have liked it if Aku never spoke. Personally, one of my favorite episodes was when Aku tried to tell propaganda fairy tales.

Sure, but then this stars a caveman and a dinosaur. I don't know if you've ever watched the movie The Bear from 1988, but it's about an adult male bear and a baby bear in the wild and it has no dialoge apart from two hunters who themselves don't even talk that much.

I'm saying that this Primal show probably won't just be a bunch of fights strung together.

I honestly never got the appeal of of this guy's work. Like Samurai Jack was neat to watch but charismatic the man was not, all the charisma in that show was reserved for Aku.

I mean I hope he finds success, but I don't get the hype.

That first trailer basically screamed "EDGE", anything of substance to the actual show or just stuff that would make a 12 year old go; "BLOOD, GORE, CARTOONS ARE SO MATURE NOW"?

What's not to get? The hunt clip gives a very clear story. The caveman is trying to survive and manages to take down his prey using his wits but loses his quarry to the t-rex because it is bigger causing him to yell in frustration.

I dunno, I like the guys work. Samurai season 5 is better than it has any right to be considering how long it was since season 4 and the fact it likely had a small budget. At least he does something different.
